Florida is witnessing an unprecedented boom in COVID cases, with hospitals hitting capacity and a record number of children being admitted for infections.
All this is happening while DeSantis is making it ILLEGAL for cities and school districts to protect people by issuing mask mandates.
He is getting people killed, and it is difficult to see how that is going to help him become the heir apparent to Donald Trump's political apparatus.

He wants to be president in the future, and I suspect that if he gets into office, it would be a disaster because he’d be a smarter version of Trump.
I thought Republicans favored "small government"? Why not let the people closest to the problem deal with it and make the best decision for their school? Mr. DEATHsantis is using his big govt powers to suppress the rights of the local govt's and that's BS. Why does he not care about his state?

Paul & MTG know what they're doing. They're going to use the suspensions to fundraise and further accusations of free speech being trampled. By the way, the same MTG that's been spreading misinformation about vaccines did NOT answer the question when she was asked if she's been vaccinated. You'd think she would immediately say "No." All these Republicans spreading doubt & misinformation about vaccines have been vaccinated themselves. It's so sad what this country has become.
The latest polling shows that a majority of Americans are AGAINST bans on mask mandates in their states, even though Republican governors are working overtime to make sure that no city or school district can mandate these protections.
This could easily come back to bite these Republicans, and it should.
The number of daily COVID cases is rising throughout the country, with the South (controlled almost solidly by Republicans) seeing the strongest surges.
Covid doesn’t care what “party” you vote for. This governor has placed his political ambitions ahead of the safety of his constituents.

Republican strategists agree that Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene have very limited power to actually do anything in Congress, but they are becoming increasingly worried about the power that the pair have over the fringe group's of the GOP's base.
They believe that as long as these two continue to dominate headlines, they are going to push away normal, moderate Republicans who don't want to be a part of the GOP freakshow.
Tate Reeves, the Republican governor of Mississippi, made the idiotic comment recently that people in his state aren't that afraid of COVID because they believe in eternal life as part of their Christian faith.
You would think that these people would be taking other lessons from the life of Jesus, like the "love thy neighbor" stuff that would help slow the spread of the disease.
Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins talks about people like Reeves who have apparently surrendered to the virus.

Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis tried to say that the media is twisting his words and that he never actually said that unvaccinated people don't impact others. Unfortunately for Ron, recording devices exist, and there is a very clear video of him at a press conference saying the words he claims he never said.
But he didn't do it because he forgot he said it - he did it because he believes that his base is stupid.
DeSantis is taking everything right out of trump's playbook. Lie and when caught, lie even more.
They don't "think" their voters are stupid, they "know" their supporters are stupid.
He learned from trump even when there’s a recording all he has to do is deny it and republicans will see it as fake news.
He's counting on the old folks having memory issues.
Florida's Republican governor Ron DeSantis is reportedly considering enacting a "fetal heart beat bill" similar to the one in Texas.
This move is about one thing and one thing only: Saving DeSantis' failing career. His approval rating is taking a massive hit thanks to his pro-COVID policies, and he needs to shore up his base or else he's in deep trouble in next year's midterm elections.
