I gotta give Smilin' Brian credit for one thing, at least he's smart enough to NEVER hire ex-Leaf players because all those guys know how to do is LOSE.

LEAFS NAME VP OF HOCKEY OPERATIONS
Long-time Burke pal Poulin signs on
Ex-NHLer becomes third man in Leafs' management hierarchy
The Leafs have someone named Kaberle who's better than Markov.
Let me school you once more:
Over the last three seasons:
Kaberle: 23 goals (0.107 gpg), 142 points in 213 games (0.66 ppg), -13, 6.0%
Markov: 34 goals (0.143 gpg), 171 points in 237 games (0.72 ppg), +1, 7.7%
Markov’s average goals per game are a third higher than Kaberle’s and Markov’s average points per game are almost 10% higher. Markov’s plus/minus is better, Markov’s shooting percentage is better and he’s been more durable over the last three seasons.
Over the last two seasons:
Kaberle: 12 goals (0.08 gpg), 84 points in 139 games (0.6 ppg), -16, 4.7%
Markov: 28 goals (0.18 gpg), 122 points in 160 games (0.8 ppg), -1, 9.2%
Markov’s average goals per game are more than double Kaberle’s and Markov’s average points per game are almost 30% higher. Markov’s plus/minus is better, Markov’s shooting percentage is better and he’s been more durable over the last two seasons.
last season:
Kaberle: 4goals (0.07 gpg), 31 points in 57 games (0.54 ppg), -8, 4.3%
Markov: 12 goals (0.15 gpg) , 64 points in 78 games (0.82 ppg), -2, 7.3%
Markov’s average goals per game are more than double Kaberle’s and Markov’s average points per game are 50% higher. Markov’s plus/minus is better, Markov’s shooting percentage is better and he’s been more durable over the last season.
Look at the trend in terms of average goals and points per game – the gap is widening – Markov is getting better and Kaberle is getting worse. Or if it isn’t already clear for you idiot Laff fans I can always include some graphs.
Obviously numbers and statistics are a bit too much for buffoon #2 to grasp. Buffoon #2 seems to also have problems with English, in particular, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. Buffoon #2 must have been dropped on his head a few too many times as a baby – perhaps remedial math and English classes are in order?
Doc, did you get your tickets yet for Halloween Night in Montreal? i will be there to cheer FOR Komisarek along with 12,000 other leafs fans
Well, it would take one piece of braindead management to trade one of the best puck moving defensement in the league and one of the best passers as well especially when such huge asset better thn Markov, as you say, is only 31 and under contract for another 2 years for the bargain price of $4.25M.
Then again your ''kinda hope'' may indicate that you're not really all that interested in keeping Kaberle with the Leafs.
. There's no urgency to get rid of them now, other than the fact it would clear up more cap space for the Leafs & allow them to sign a more expensive free agent....a Tanguay or Bertuzzi, for example. Heck, maybe even a Robert Lang!
The sure thing is I know more about hockey than you know about verb conjugation but that's a side issue.
Now leaving all salary cap considerations aside, the question is how do you expect Burke to maximize his return at a point where Kaberle's realized value (57 GP only, 23:27 TOI/G compared to 24:30 to 26:00 range for top d-men, 51th highest total points only for d-men in 2008-09) contradicts his potential value?

come back when your schooled better on the subject at hand
the ALMIGHTY STATISTICS
Of course you don’t like statistics because you have no answer. Your only response is: “bawhahaahah” (something my 10 year old nephew writes on my Facebook wall, btw).
Lets throw out a few random points and see how you respond. Since numbers aren’t your thing, I’ll only use a few to make it a bit easier for you. Prove to us all you're not the mental midget you so very much appear to be, and counter each of these points:
- Take away Antropov, Moore and Kubina’s production and add all the penalty minutes Orr, Exelby and Komisarek will rack up (hence a lot more time on the PK which translates into around 25% more goals against), on a team that is already lousy on the PK (dead last in the league at 74.7%). The Laffs were the worst defensive team in the NHL last season (dead last with the highest goals against, 293 total = 3.5 goals against per game) and will be even more so this season – and this along with an already feeble offense. End result: the Maple Laffs are no where near a playoff team
- The Maple Losers have no team leadership. Wilson is an ineffective coach and has failed miserably to light a fire under your team. Moreover, there is no on-ice leadership to compensate for the coach's failure. You have no captain or anybody who can currently become captain and successfully lead by example. The Laffs are a disorganized, dispirited team, with no cohesion to speak of, and no system to define it.
- By no stretch of the imagination have the Laffs made themselves into one of the toughest teams in the league nor do they have one of the top D-corps but the Habs actually might have made themselves into one of the speediest teams in the NHL and in the new NHL speed kills. Don't be surprised to see Montreal put up another 20 points more than the Laffs. While Burke was targeting the “best players not playing in the NHL” Bob was busy signing proven NHL performers.
