Bad news for the Red Sox....

Hanley Ramirez was just taken out of the game due to a shoulder injury suffered when he ran into the wall in left field. The injury appeared to be serious.

Jays beat the Yankees 3-1!!!!

Great come-from-behind win by the Jays tonight as they scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th. In that inning, the previously invincible Dellin Betances blew the save & allowed 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Chase Whitley pitched a very strong 7 innings for the Yankees, while R.A. Dickey took the win for the Jays in 8 very strong innings, yielding only 3 hits and a run.

Of note, Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-4 and Stephen Drew's embarrassing batting average sunk to .149 after going hitless again. What are they waiting to either release him or send him down to the minors? Year after year, it's the same thing! He sucks!!!

Go Jays Go!!! :thumb:

Stephen Drew has 4 HR and 10 RBI to go along with his very bad .149 BA. 4 HR in 26 games is pace to hit 25 HR in the season. He is definitely in a slump. He is playing because of his very good defensive skills. He is a .255 lifetime hitter over 10 years in the majors. He's never been a spectacular hitter. He's survived the big leagues because of his defense.

Russell Martin is the ideal competitor. He was instrumental to the Dodgers, Yankees, Pirates and now the Blue Jays.

More bad news, the Red Sucks are now officially in their rightful place, LAST PLACE(EMBARRASSING:eek:), I'd like to know what were all those experts smoking when they all picked the Red Socks to win the division.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp

I tried to do a google search for articles that say that the Yankees suck and the Red Sox have the greatest team ever like the articles that started this thread off way back in the end of March. Remember?

Google came back with nothing.

I then used the search terms: "Yankees Suck Red Sox great" and woe and behold, google came back with the following:

Do you mean "Yankees Great, Red Sox Suck"?

And all of these articles came up ... amazing how smart Google is.

The Yankees keep on rolling.

Jacoby Ellsbury is red hot. He's batting .358, went 3 for 5, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs. Mark Teixeira hit his 10 HR. And Mike Pineda pitched 8 strong innings of shut out ball as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 6 to 3.

BOYZ!

Can anyone explain what is wrong with the Toronto Blue Jays. Every year it's the same. They look powerful on paper and yet they currently lag behind the Red Sox who have been next to abysmal in pitching and very poor in hitting with men on base. Are the Jays badly run or is it something in the water for all teams from Toronto?

Yes, you are correct. On paper, they look like the team to beat. Maybe, they are a team of underachievers? Sometimes, it is chemistry between the players. I have a theory that success spreads in baseball between players, where you would think the opposite is true. Basketball, Football, Hockey and Soccer are all interactive type of sports. Baseball stands alone where it's pitcher vs. batter, mano y mano.

But rallies in baseball happen when a string of individual players get on base. Sometimes it is the pitcher and sometimes the batters connect. maybe because they are more relaxed?. I think it is a combination of both. The pitcher loses concentration and the batters start to see better pitches to hit. It's just a theory.

Very good game between the Red Sox & Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. Jays pitchers have kept the Red Sox off the scoreboard so far. The light-hitting Red Sox, i should say. It's 4-0 Jays heading into the top of the 9th.

p.s. Mike Napoli should retire. He's absolutely awful. Questionable off-field habits & poor conditioning have ruined his once-promising career. Too much pasta maybe.

Blue Jays destroy light-hitting Red Sox 7-0

Starter Aaron Sanchez had his best outing ever as a starting pitcher. Pitching against these light-hitting Red Sox was just what the doctor ordered. Aaron Loup & Steve Delabar pitched under two scoreless innings in relief. Delabar, just recently called back from the minors, pitched great and was literally unhittable.

I think the time has come to trade Dustin Pedroia since he still has value. This is a team going nowhere. Pappi should retire after this season. Allan Craig sucks. Daniel Nava has no business playing in the big leagues. Mookie Betts should also be sent down to the minors. The starting pitching is one of the worse in the AL. And they still have the majors' worse manager. He may not last the season, deservably.

I predict a sweep by the Jays! :thumb:

Meanwhile the team of Betances and Miller continue to work their magic. Give these 2 guys a 1 run lead and the odds are they will close the opposition down without giving up a run. It happened again last night as the Yankees beat the Orioles, 5 to 4. Both have a 0.00 ERA. Look at their unbelievable stats:

NAME GP GS QS W L SV HLD IP H ER HR BB SO K/9 P/GS WAR WHIP ERA
Dellin Betances 16 0 0 4 0 1 8 17.2 8 0 0 8 28 14.26 0.0 0.0 0.91 0.00
Andrew Miller 15 0 0 0 0 13 0 15.2 3 0 0 8 26 14.94 0.0 0.0 0.70 0.00

The Yankees are 19-11 and in first place of the AL East. They look like an exciting team, far from the preseason reviews that someone, somewhere was posting earlier this year.

The Toronto Blue Jays have the highest number of runs and runs per game in the majors. Their pitching is not doing as well, as they have given up almost as many runs as they have scored (9 less).

The Boston Red Sox are in next to last in ERA. Nuff said.

And it'll continue to rise today.

In other 'Sox' news, pitching coach Juan Nieves was fired the other day. Today, it was announced that he'll be replaced by Carl Willis.

Personally, i believe that Nieves was just a scapegoat. The guy who should have been fired instead has for initials J.F.

Joe Kelly

Where did the Red Sox get this bum? He's barely pitched 4 innings, he's given up 5 runs, he's walked 7 & Encarnacion just hit a 3-run shot.

5-0 Jays after 4 innings at the Rogers Centre. Go Jays!

All those $$$$ the Red Hosers spent for a last place team.

ISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Red Sox are damn UGLY right now. I like Kelly but...7 walks in one game...OMG! The Starters can hardly pitch, the hitters can barely find the ball with men on base. I'll tell you one thing, I would not give up any decent prospects to try to save this team for this year. I've always disagreed with the view that you take who is best available at the time. No, not if that doesn't mean gaining solid quality unless you only need a small tweak for the team. This team has many holes, BIG ONES. The thing to do is to wait until the right person becomes available NOT the best deal for the moment.

peeeeeuuuuuuuuu.

Jays go for sweep today after beating light-hitting Red Sox 7-1 yesterday

Jays will send knuckleballer R.A. Dickey to the hill against the overrated Clay Bucholz. Bucholz has pitched well at the Rogers Centre over the years. Best news for Jays fans: the Red Sox have called up Jackie Bradley Jr. and he'll be in the lineup today. A giant YES!!!!! :thumb:

Michael Pineda pitched a gem today striking out a career high 16 in 7 innings. His record is now 5-0, 2.72 ERA.

The record for a nine inning game is 20 by Roger Clemens twice (1986 and 1996) when he was with the Red Sox and Kerry Wood with the Chicago Cubs. Several players have struck out 19, Randy Johnson twice, and 18 batters in 9 innings.

Pineda did 16 in 7 innings, which is more than 2 per inning. Pineda was taken out after having pitched 111 pitches.

Pineda looks very promising. Looking at were Jesus Montero is (AAA for the Seattle Mariners), I say the Yankees are glad they made this trade. Montero is having a good year in AAA, 4 HR, 19 RBI, .328, but he's not competing in the majors, like he was when he was traded.
