My budget for my next trip is crazy... Got a huge raise and been saving. I'm going to need help figuring out how to spend it.

If and when the border opens. Vaccinated already.

For now all I can say... is even if you are vaccinated.... your still need to follow the 14 days quarantine.
including a 3 nights in a hotel at your own cost. Here for details: Isolation

I think it's still not the right time to travel!

If you drive across the hotel stay is not required. Some fly to a border airport and taxi across to avoid the $2,100 outrageous fee. Should get a happy ending each night for that fee.

True that's an option... But if you get caught like one of my neighbors did... Ticket goes from 3000 to 6000$
He got lucky he got fined 3000$.

I'd be driving anyhow. Not thinking of coming yet.

But my budget will be about 5 times what it normally is. I hear all the bars are still closed. Doubt the strip club industry that was already on fumes will survive this. I'll have to find new hang outs.

Those are some draconian measures though. Is it bad up in Canada? I worked the whole time through so my fear of this is non exist ant.

That is not correct, nothing illegal about driving across and not going to the hotel.

I know... But he got the SQ visit the same day when he got back at his home.
He will challenge the ticket... We will see how it goes.

Government is saying if we achieve 75% with a first dose and 20% with a second dose, (which they believe is somewhere in July) we could return to a form of normalcy. They are making it sound like this is their target.

Quebec is who is doing pretty well compared to the other provinces but will not open up to the general population until end of May. So July is realistic.

They believe that at 55% coverage we will see a 4th wave if they lift restrictions. So they will not lift restrictions.

This assumes we get the vaccine supply we need, which at this point seems probable
This also assumes that variants do not end up decreasing vaccine effectiveness which is a very real threat.

It would be nice if JT can give us a head's up when the border will open. Like 30 days at least so people can book hotels and make arrangements. They can't open like 3 weeks before Jazz Festival and expect people will come. At least 30 days heads up before Jazz Fest please

Just an opinion but reading the news and supposedly we are out of or almost out of vaccines until the end of June, can not see the borders opening until both countries agree that each other is safe. Figure with Bidan he will not allow it to open since Canada is about to be the new hot spot with variants.

i would like to change my answer. It will be somewhere between July 1st and July 4th, i.e around our national holldiays. It makes sense. Renewal is always on the 21st. The govs will renew again May 21st for 30 days. Then around June 21st they will announce 'gradual reopening' slated to start a week later July 1-4. If you can prove vaccine, then no quarantine. That will be the 'gradual' part. Mark my words.

Not sure where you get your info. Canada is not out of vaccine and supply is good and on growing now. I don't believe the politicians. I do believe Major General Danny Fortin's regular updates. AZ&Moderna slowed down, replaced by JJ & Pfizer.
