Hello all,
Man, what the hell is happening with the Red Sox this year? It sure seems like the Yankees have their number this time around. Are we about to see drastic changes? Will Tito be able to hang on to his job until the all-star break comes around? Will Papi get his walking papers before that same all-star break?
Doc, Papi has been hitting .429 (apx) this month and has been very productive. As for the rest of your post, the Red Sox decided during the summer they weren't going to trade away their promising young players of the future to get some major players they were interested in like Halliday, Hanley Ramirez, or Alex Gonzalez. So I doubt they will do it now when they will be dumping a lot of money off of their payrolls at the end of the year as contracts end and they can then put the saved millions into good free agents without losing their young prospects.
Hughes had his first bad start all year, and it was not that bad up until he gave up the homer to Drew. He threw too many pitches, because his command was a little off and he was facing a decent lineup that put good at bats on him.
So, essentially you are saying the same thing about him as you said about Papelbon. He's fattening up against average and poorer teams with 3 of 5 wins against the Angels, Athletics, and the White Sox. In fact he only beat the Tigers handily and is really 1-1 against the Red Sox who ripped him up the second time. Based on most of the teams he's faced the jury must still be out on whether he's Cy Young quality at all.
Ooops, Joba Chamberlain is blowing up again in the 8th. Face it Yankee fans. Whether it's starting or relief, Joba's record proves he's more of a handicap than an asset, at least against any decent teams. It's now gone from 5-1 to 5-4 Yankees with him pitching...and the Yankees fans are howling like crazy at him.
Ortiz just missed putting it out by a foot or two and the Sox are tied at 5-5. Joba SUCKS!
Hehehehe,
Merlot
PS
Going to bed with a smile. Just saw two incompetent Yankees FAIL on a shallow fly ball. Two Sox on and two outs in the 9th.
Was just going to bed when Hermida hit Rivera over the head of the left fielder to score two runs. Now Sox 7, Yankees 5.
Damn Scutaro! He just gave that defensive fielding philosophy another black eye. If not for a great glove stab by Papelbon this would have been another blown game. BUT...the Sox come all the way back to win. Now that's how the Yankees choke.
Special thanks to Joba who goes on the international choke sign right behind the Yankees logo.
