I browsed the thread a bit and in the last bunch of posts, I see not much that look like a discussion about baseball...

Don't you guys remember when you were kids?

When the teacher was saying "ENOUGH", it was a good idea to keep quiet for a while?

And when the teacher was really pissed at your attitude, he wasn't looking for who started it anymore, he was punishing everybody...

IGNORE doesn't mean just put somebody on the ignore list, it mean DON'T READ ANY of his posts, even when quoted, even if they are directed to you, even if his posts are attacking you, even if you happen to read one of the post and find it childish.

Now, let's see who are adults enough to really ignore those who are annoying them... You guys already have more strikes than allowed in a baseball game.

I have no issue to comply...as I have demonstrated in the past.
I think we all clearly know who the adults are here.

I do take issue when things are allowed to continue after warning has been issued. Please reread the posts carefully. There have been posts made here contrary to the rules of engagement...and yet they go ignored. Perhaps its time to take the toys from the boys...frankly I don't think the men will mind, at least this one won't.

Merci for you guidance Mod11 and Mod8.

The mods have mentioned multiple options to deal with relapses toward personal baiting or attacks. Such relapses are unfortunately periodic in any thread (far from just sports threads) since human nature is what it is. So, I hope the mods will preserve the body while dealing with the problems.

Sincerely,

Merlot

What an awesome tandem behind the dish for the Sox so far this year...Martinez is finally lighting it up.
And Tek is a solid leader...like he has always been. Hell and with a little rest he's hitting homeruns at an amazing clip 7 jacks in 71 AB so far.
Combines the Sox tandem has 15 HR's so far...wow, what an improvement!

And this guy, after a shaky start defensively, is showing how good he is at 3B and as an evolving team leader...
.332 / 7HR / 40 RBI to date

Hello everyone,

I would like to give you all a word of advice. If the constant complaints and sniping continue, the entire Sports Forum will be shut down. When this Sports Forum was requested by the members, the mods supported the idea and made the request to Fred and it was granted. For most of it's existence the Sports section has been left alone and everyone has gotten along well but lately it seems that the sports threads have turned into a free for all and that is going to stop. If this Forum begins to require more time to moderate than the rest of MERB combined, I will have it closed permanently. I have already instituted a ban on tech discussions so do not think that this is a hollow threat.

If someone makes a post you do not like, you do not have to reply to it. If you think it breaks the rules, contact a moderator about it. If you want to flame each other, get together and have it out in the chat room. But keep the threads clear of arguing and bitching at each other.

Last warning.

Where I belong.
First, let me note that Keith Law is not a journalist by trade; he was formerly a writer for Baseball Prospectus and worked in the front office for the Toronto Blue Jays. He is a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America. He covered the first round of yesterday's draft for ESPN where, it seems, the Red Sox, with three picks, did very well and the Yankees, it seems, took a projected 3rd or 4th round pick with their first round selection.

"The Boston Red Sox took advantage of falling guys as well, landing my No. 10, Bryce Brentz, in the sandwich round. Conventional wisdom on Brentz's struggles this year was that he got a little draft-itis, trying to hit for power at the expense of his overall hit tool, but whatever the reason, he came out of last summer as a likely top-10 pick and the Red Sox were wise to remember that. Similarly, they popped preseason No. 2 prospect Anthony Ranaudo in the sandwich round, and they'll have time now to get comfortable with the state of his elbow before committing what would likely be a top-five-overall bonus if they sign him. At No. 20, they took Kolbrin Vitek, an athletic college hitter with some risk -- he needs to move to the outfield and we don't have wood bat looks at him from past summers -- but the potential upside of an above-average glove in center who provides value with the bat."

"The New York Yankees also drew some surprised reactions by taking prep shortstop Cito Culver in the first round -- I was doubly confused when he was listed on MLB.com as a right-handed pitcher -- when the Northeast area scouts were telling me all spring he was a third-or fourth-rounder. The Yankees see Culver as a shortstop with a chance to hit for average and some power, and he has a plus arm, but there are mixed opinions on whether or not he's going to stay at short."

Who DAT???!

Hello all,

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Red-Sox-4-Indians-1-15757486

Matsuzaka (5-2) gave up four hits - all singles - and was never threatened by Cleveland's punchless lineup. The right-hander continued a remarkable run by Boston's starters on the road. In the club's last nine games outside Fenway Park, the Red Sox rotation is 8-0 with a 0.70 ERA.

I don't know if it's my moonlighting sushi chef again or just Matsuzaka being his lovely schizophrenic self. Despite the obvious supposed advantage of facing "Cleveland's punchless lineup", we are all too familiar with how excruciating and frustrating Dice-K can be with his typical single inning blow ups and numerous free passes to the hitters. So when he exhibits such great command against anyone it's notable. Overall, he been doing a good job of late, which is timely with Beckett out injured. Hooray for now. Still, who was that guy...lol?

Who is the real "Dice-K". Sushi anyone?

Cheers,

Yea, he looks to be the real deal for sure. i actually went and saw him pitch a few weeks ago in the minors and even tho he had an "off" night for him (5ip 2er) he was still impressive.

yea, one out of 8 starts he does actually pitch decent, but one out of 8 doesnt justify the other 7 stinkers. (save the chamberlain taunts, he is younger and has time to work things out, lol)

how about TL?

According to my information A.J. Burnett signed a 5-year contract with the Yankees that started in 2009 and puts him in the rotation through 2013. So I see you two gentlemen are quitting on him??? Fascinating!

Red Sox 3, Indians 2

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Red-Sox-3-Indians-2-44092926

Tim Wakefield bounced back from two rough outings and became Boston's all-time leader in innings pitched, leading the Red Sox past the Cleveland Indians 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Wakefield (2-4) gave up four hits and one earned run over 7 1-3 innings to push his career innings pitched to 2,777, one more than Roger Clemens worked in a Red Sox uniform.

continued...

CONGRATULATIONS to Tim Wakefield! Not only did he become officially the most durable pitcher in Red Sox history tonight, but previous claims of his demise were dashed as he pitched a gem. Another Sox pitcher comes through to continue the staffs amazing run. Tim Wakefield...Sox Superman
