Oh crap!

Geeeez,

First Pedroia is out for at least 2 weeks at the height of his effectiveness and now Buchholz, who deserves an all-Star appearance, has a hyper-extended knee from running the bases in one of these darn Bleed-Baseball-for-Money inter-league games. The extent of the injury is unpublished at this time. Oh Crap!

We did gain a game on the Yanks, who got another (5th in a row) "Burnett Special" giving up 6 earned runs in 3 innings. That's an 11.35 ERA in the last 5 games folks..."the worst single-month ERA in Yankees history", according to ESPN. More solid evidence of Cashman's genius.

Hello Merlot,

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse Victor Martinez takes a foul ball off the left toe (again) today and is listed DTD...

On the brighter side the Sox made it a short day for another NL ace (thats 2 in a week)...even with the depleted lineup...Lincecum left the game after surrendering 4 in 3 innings on 79 pitches - gotta wonder if somethings not up there?

Well, I think it will be f%$#ing awseome in September to see the Red Sox AAA team still in the thick of things...but then again thats what happens when you build a baseball ORGANIZATION like Theo did.

Have fun,

Jman

Hugs,

Merlot

PS Gotta love that AJ Burnett...its only a slump...a career long slump...

Allo everyone...

Isn't it great to see a team of Red Sox comprised primarily of our AAA farm team still winning major leagur games and gaining ground on the first string Yankee squad!?
You gotta love baseball!

Having fun,

Gotta take some exception here, pal. While we're missing some serious studs, when you have a middle of the order comprised of Ortiz, Youkilis, and Beltre, you're gonna win a lot of games. The fact that we're winning without Ellsbury, Beckett, Martinez, and Pedroia should scare the living shit out of the rest of the league. The simple fact of the matter is, jman, that the Sox are seriously loaded. When the boys all come back, watch out.

The Sox now lead the majors by 18 runs scored.

It took you 42 minutes to log off and back on to talk to yourself, what was the delay?.

They've battled through injuries all season, this won't be that painful, we'll be in first by the All Star break! ;-)

Hmmm...the Sox have Baltimore at home then TB & Toronto on the road, while the Yankees have Toronto at home, Oakland, and Seattle, the latter two on the west coast. I'll have to think about this one.

While all these injuries hurt, the fact is that Pedroia and Martinez are the Sox 4th and 5th best hitters. Considering the Murderer's Row in the middle of the lineup featuring three of the major league's top 12 hitters by OPS, the Sox should continue to score runs. With Baltimore and a free-falling Toronto club comprising the bulk of the schedule, the Sox should be fine.

My biggest concern is the bullpen which sucks almost as bad as the Yankees bullpen. Between the two teams, there are exactly three trustworthy pitchers: Papelbon, Bard, and Rivera.

The Yankees will draw both Hernandez and Lee in Seattle.

It's amazing how the Red Sox are keeping up to the Yankees with so many including so many critical players injured like Clay Buchholz, Dustin Pedroia, Josh Beckett, Victor Martinez, Jason Varitek, Manny Delcarmen. Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeremy Hermida, Mike Lowell, Jed Lowrie. DAMN!

Our thanks to Joba, Dave Robertson, and Chan Ho Park not to mention the 0-12 $515 million trio of Teixeira, Rodriguez, and Cano for the Yankees collapse. Special thanks in a power roll to J. D. Drew for his two home runs. Drew has a career OPS of 1.368 against the Orioles.

Speaking of Cano, if Joe.t still wants to back up the statement that Cano will hit .400 this year I'll take that bet. Ooops, I forgot Joe conveniently got religion against betting...lol.

the j-rump connection jinx is alive and well, sorry joe, but once again Arod and Big Tex had big days , Arod 4 huge rbi's giving him 61 on the season (but he is not the player he was, lol, ok) and Tex going 2 for 3 and raising his rbi's to 51. throw in a huge day by Brett Gardner and another good solid outing by YOUR Allstar starting pitcher Andy "CY" Pettite which improved to 10-2...

How the mighty have fallen. Who ever thought that 1 for 4 with a double would be a big day for Alex "Warning Track Power" Rodriguez? (RBI, by the way, are a team dependent stat. Guys on base, you get RBI; no guys on base, no RBI. As a personal stat, it's meaningless. But you wouldn't understand.)

Oh No...say it isn't so Mo...

Well, I guess Joba can't blow them all...

AWqbllGA.jpg

Nice work Mo.

In other MLB updates...look who is a game out of first after the season has just passed the half way point...or better said look who's barely hanging on to first while being chased by a squad of AAA players.... Didn't a merb bb genius say the Yankees would have it wrapped up by the All Star break?!

On the All Star front after the fans had spoken with their votes and clearly did not want ARod on the All Star team, the genius Girardi manages to get him there with a managerial appointment - ahead of many other more deserving players......he gets my vote for JackAss of the year.

Have fun,

Jman

A-Rod is 3rd in the AL in RBIs, is on pace for 124 and leads all 3rd baseman in RBIs (including Longoria who was voted in), so you are requested to explain why he does not deserve to go. The other 4 guys in the top 5 in RBIs in the AL are all on the team.

Simple...the fans didn't want him. He got in on his name and past performance and because his manager clearly felt the need to stroke his massive ego. You base your assumption on RBI's? One category? Clearly flawed logic...but typically pinstriped.

It's quite simple, Beav, and you should know better. RBIs is a meaningless stat (see: Carter, Joe) and totally team dependent.
