Simple...the fans didn't want him.

Boo Who, the river is getting longer and deeper......

He got in on his name and past performance .

unlike many others eh? not, one name that comes to mind is Ripken, and even tho the "fans wanted him" he didnt deserve to be there the last several all star games, save me the excuse that it is the fans game, at least Girardi was smart enough to put Arod in cause "he does" deserve to be there, but i must say the fans are not always right about who they vote in, but this year i have to give them kudos for not putting in one single red sox, great job fans of MLB, GREAT JOB INDEED!!!!!!!!!!

Who's crying? There are Sox players deservedly on the team, including 2 Cy Young caliber pitchers grown in the Red Sox farm system. I don't understand your misguided point ? It's like turrets with you, the baby letter thing, the baseless comments...you can't stop even if you wanted to... Poor little man.

Oh yeah, in case you missed it... I posted the roster below...I count 6 Red Sox players (it will be 7 when Youk gets voted in this week), 6 Yankee players...but noteably missing is your appointed starting pitcher...Is Andy on the list?! Hmmmm, shouldn't he be there before ARod?! I mean he is up for the Cy Young, isn't he?

So Typical Of Some red sox Fans (not all but most in here, K and Merlot get a pass as they at least have real baseball knowledge)... quite simple, the boo who was for NO sox players being voted in by the "great" fans of the red sox

Pettite surprised me alot, being left off, he clearly should be there but it is Girardis call.

The Only one confused here is you Jman, as respectively you said the "FANS" didnt want Arod correct? and all i said was the FANS didnt want ANY red sox at all.... sorry, but those are the REAL FACTS, hope you understand now.

PS, if Ripken had so much class than why didnt he step away the last several years he was in the starting lineup of the ASG when others deserved it so much? truth is MOST sports stars have the same massive ego you so clearly point out about Arod, including red sox players you like to think as down to earth normal non ego maniacs, get real dude.

BoSox injuries continue to mount: Clay Buchholz lands on 15-DL

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz is headed to the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring.

The move is retroactive to June 27, the day after he suffered the injury while running the bases in a game against San Francisco.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona had said prior to Sunday's game against Baltimore that Buchholz wouldn't start again until after the All-Star break. Buchholz will be eligible to return July 12, the first day of the All-Star break. Boston's first game after the hiatus is July 15 against Texas.

The 25-year-old right-hander was selected to the American League All-Star team on Sunday, but won't be eligible to participate if he is on the DL.

Buchholz has a record of 10-4 with a 2.47 earned run average in 15 starts this season.

great news!

Wouldn't expect anything less out of ya Iggy! The only way the Yanks can cling to first place is with an abundance of injuries to the 2nd place team. No big deal, there's still 80 games left.

1. I forgot more about baseball than you know...'nough said.
2. Go read the vote counts and you may want to recant your statements - the 6 Red Sox players on the team were voted in by the fans. ARod was a DISTANT 2nd to Longoria in the balloting and considering Yankee bandwagoners and fans outnumber Rays fans by 100,000 to 1 - I'd call that a slap in the face.
3. I'm not confused about anything my good man.
4. Most sports stars don't have pics published of themselves kissing themselves in a mirror - A-Rod does...case closed.

5. Ripken earned his All Star starts...A-Rod chemically produced his.

Once again when faced with facts you typically try to malign the other person and spew useless fodder...comon' dude, sometimes you just have stop.

Patter-who....PatterSON, thats who...

Well as the Yankees continue to hold onto first by a thread... the walking wounded, AAA call ups and previously unknown continue to contribute in Boston as they are right in the race. The latest addition from the team that Theo built is Eric Patterson...who so far tonight has gone deep twice against the fading Rays as the Sox chased spitter Garza after 3 and are up 5-1 in the 5th....

More on Patterson:
Eric Scott Patterson (born April 8, 1983, in Tallahassee, Florida) is an outfielder in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox. Patterson has played most of his career as a second baseman.[1] Patterson made his major league debut with the Chicago Cubs on August 6, 2007.

Although Patterson originally was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 23rd round of the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft out of Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, he did not sign and went on instead to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. With the Yellow Jackets, Patterson was named an Atlantic Coast Conference All-Star three times (2002-2004) and an All-American twice (in 2002 on the Freshman 1st Team, and in 2004 on the 3rd team). He was named to the USA Baseball team twice, in 2002 and 2003.[2] Patterson was selected in the 8th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Patterson played in the 2006 All-Star Futures Game in Pittsburgh,[3] and was ranked the sixth-best prospect in the Cubs organization by Baseball America prior to the 2007 season.[4] He collected his first major league hit on August 7, 2007, by singling against Woody Williams in a game against the Houston Astros. On June 22, 2008, Patterson hit the first home run of his career.
On July 8, 2008, Patterson was traded along with pitcher Sean Gallagher, outfielder Matt Murton, and catcher Josh Donaldson to the Oakland Athletics for pitchers Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin.
On June 22, 2010, Patterson was designated for assignment to make way for Coco Crisp on the A's roster.
On June 26, 2010, Patterson was traded to the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Fabian Williamson, after Dustin Pedroia was placed on the disabled list having sustained a nondisplaced fracture of the navicular bone on his left foot.

He is the younger brother of Orioles outfielder Corey Patterson.

PS Here's something to think about - how do you think the Yankees would be doing if Cano, Cervelli, Posada, Granderson, Hughes, Gardner and Swisher were on the DL? I listed the equivalents to what the Sox are missing right now. Can any of you high class Yankee guys name the replacements? Time to shine lgna. Hmmmm....

Two words foreign to both you and George:
Sportsmanship
Class (keep in mind money doesn't buy you class)

Enter either into the equation and you know you never wish injury on anyone...spin it anyway you want, your comments lack both.

Hello guys,

I see you two are bonding again. I love warm exchanges of wisdom between competing fans...lol.

Okay. But you want me to agree that despite spending $1.6 billion and grabbing most of the best players available the Yankees were a "FAILURE" for 8 straight seasons while the Sox won the World Series twice. Well. I'm on your side here. I agree with your wisdom.

Great point. I saw a graphic before a game showing 7 out of 9 starters were injured and unable to play at one point when the Sox were still actually climbing to within a half game of first place. Show me any other team that could have done that.

Regarding the All-Star selections, I don't really have a problem with A-Rod being selected. I made a comparison of his stats with Ortiz and they are very similar in numbers though it does seem to me that Ortiz has been closer to the key to the Sox resurgence than Rodriguez has been for the Yankees position in the standings. So Ortiz would seem to be more effective overall, though purely in stats both would seem like borderline choices compared to other league leaders.

Someone mentioned Rodriguez should go because of his career record. That I do have a problem with now that his achievements from 2007 back are seriously tainted with his steroids admission. So base any merit for choosing either Rodriguez or Ortiz on what they are doing this year. And overall,, there is no question that not counting injuries Youkilis and Pedroia both deserve to go more than Rodriguez.

Cheers,

Merlot

Hello Merlot,

Well, I believe all 3 of us can bond and firmly agree here on lgna's wisdom...very well summarized. Wow, its a merb moment....can we join hands and sing Kumbaya!?
However, I'm going to ask you to check the numbers though....because I also think the Yankees were a "FAILURE" for 8 straight seasons (by lgna's definition of course) but spent closer to $2 billion while the Red Sox won the World Series twice. But then again, $400 million is sofa change for George...

Have fun,

Jman

Here's a link to a great article in the NY Times Magazine on Mariano Rivera. He's maybe the only or one of the only players that I do find to be full of class in that organization, which is sorely lacking class. It's about 7 pages long so I don't expect Iggy to actually read the whole thing but anyway here it is.
