Hello SK,

Well, you only missed two things last night...CC being rather Burnettesque in his start as the Rangers slapped him around. And the Yankees escaped with a W only because the Rangers bullpen imploded and gave up a 5 run lead in typically Joba like fashion...oh well...

Tonight...well tonight Phil Hughes also did his best AJ Burnett imitation and got his ass handed to him...LOL!

I love baseball this time of year, mostly because I just love baseball. But I also love to hate the pinstriped morons from NY and it is the time of the year when Brian Cashman's overall genius  shines through year after year as we watch the Yankee's who annually outspend everyone in the game get to the post season as the best team baseball can buy...ultimately go home as losers, since they have only been successful 10% of the time. As is clearly demonstrated by the fact they have won 1 WS in the past 10 years after spending over $2 Billion...which means the other 9 times they were merely well paid LOSERS. During that same time their arch rivals from Boston have been to the post season 7 times I believe, winning 2 WS titles...hmmm.

Tonights game in Philly is interesting...Giants could be a surprise...maybe. As for the ALCS, all I'll say is I love Cinderalla stories in sports and it would be awesome to see the Rangers win their first AL Pennant and ultimately WS title under the leadership of Nolan Ryan...especially if they squash the Yankees on the way. Besides, you gotta love a fan base who had the "Yankees SUCK" chant going in the first inning of game 1...not to mention the "STERRROIDS" chant every time Arod gets to the plate.

Continued good luck to the Rangers and to the AL MVP Josh Hamilton...may the baseball gods shine on them.
Up next...Cliff Lee - game 3 ;)...

From the movie "The Natural"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88ft_enkr9c&feature=related

What a great scene and a great flick. Of course Roy Hobbs wears # 9 in the movie coincidentally the same number that was worn by Ted Williams...the greatest hitter ever.

Have fun,

not as fresh as the red sox batters, they have been well rested for weeks now :)

i would laugh if AJ pitched a great game, hey miracles can happen ya know!

Who's pitching next for the Yanks, oh yea, Burnett! Hmmm. They do have an advantage going into the GM 4, at least their batters will be fresh, none of them ran the bases tonight!

How right you are my good man, I heard that Lee has instructed his agent to start looking for a house in New York for him, maybe he will buy Jeter's apartment that he has for sale for $20 million, Lee will be able to afford it after the Yankees sign him.

Question - What do the astute Joe.t and Ken Rosenthal have in common?.

Answer - We both predicted the Yankees over the Rangers in 6, you can take that to the bank.

1.Sabathia
2.Lee
3.Hughes
4.Burnett
5. ?

Hello Sk,

Have you ever heard the Yankee fans say Cashman is a "genius". Yeah, that's why he got blind-sided in the Cliff Lee sweepstakes by Texas leading to last night's Yankee debacle..."their worst shutout loss in playoff history" according to ESPN. That's Cashman's genius for you...lol. The Yankees are damn lucky they aren't 0-3 right now.

Cheers,

Merlot

Hello Merlot,

Hey that was a great game. LOL. I love baseball this time of year.
Cashman...yup...sheer genius.

Well...I wonder how AJ Burnett is doing right now...:rolleyes:. Can't wait for AJ "the stopper" to get on the mound tonight. I can see the scene right now in the Yankees locker room...with Burnett sitting in a corner and Girardi standing over him with a child's storybook chanting, "You can do it, You can do it...." LOL.

Sounds like the Yankee fans here are super confident also. I am sure there is a very high comfort level among Yankee fans all over the globe knowing that good ole AJ is on the mound tonight...a comfort level knowing that sometime between innings 1 and 9 there will be an inning that Rangers hitters will make look very similar to the top of the 9th last night...ahh yes, daydreaming again...

Did you see that little flick MVP Hamilton put on the ball for that 1st inning jack last night off of 19 post season game winner (aka should be retired and really spending time with his kids) Petite? Then he just missed a monster shot in his next AB. Scary thing about the Rangers right now is that Hamilton's contributions to the Ranger offense have been minor so far...looks like he is still hurting a little to me...

Continued good luck to Josh and the Rangers...

Hello Jman,

Yeah, it's got to be extremely comforting to rely on a guy to keep the team from going down 3-1 who the last I heard of was being left off the playoff roster (first round) due to the fact...HE SUCKED THIS YEAR! We Red Sox fans were better off facing the prospect of having to rely on a pitcher just 2 or 3 days after a radical ankle procedure that leaked in 2004 than relying on Burnett.

bloody-sock.jpg

Oh yeah, nice move by the "genius" Girardi choosing not to put in Rivera to hold a close game. I'm not sure if this was a good or bad move considering Lee's performance, but it showed a lack of faith in his team.

UPDATE:

A J Burnett was consistent with his year long average giving up 5 runs in 6 innings for a 7.50 ERA. Chalk this one up to...DUUUUH!!!! What was "genius" Girardi thinking??? His comment after the game referring to the 3-run bomb Burnett gave up in the sixth inning was..."he got two batters out". DOH!

The Yankees have been outscored by the Rangers 30-11, and yet Mo Rivera has not pitched in the last two games though he could have been key two nights ago. The highest priced team in any American sport has looked impotent at bat so far, aside from the fact that the Yankees got a run when at least 4 Yankees fans interfered was a probable out as more than one of them hit the glove of the Ranger's fielder who seemed to be there for the catch.

The Yankees are now down 3-1 in games and are very lucky they weren't swept. Comebacks with a 3-1 deficit in games have only been accomplished 4 times...three of them by the BOSTON RED SOX...1986, 2004 (versus the Yankees), 2007 against Sabathia in two of those games when he was with Cleveland. Isn't Sabathia pitching tonight.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, the silence of the Yankees fans...lol.

Cheers,

Merlot

Classy, resilient, steeped in tradition...best fans in baseball:rolleyes:...Ahhh the Yankee faithful...

format-war-sinking-ship.jpg

Even before the Rangers broke it open the Yankee faithful  were leaving, like rats from a sinking ship prompting John Smoltz to comment..."I don't understand...this is playoff baseball." But Smoltzy, this is Yankee playoff baseball...ROFL. No loyal fans, just bandwagon winner fans.

Schilling said it best...There is nothing better than shutting up 55,000 obnoxious New Yorkers.

Interesting read in the 10/20 WSJ...

http://blogs.wsj.com/dailyfix/2010/10/20/bargains-trump-bling-in-alcs/

The team that was bankrupt is kicking the ass of the best team money can buy...LOL. And this is the real laugher....AJ Burnett is out earning the entire Rangers ALCS starting rotation - BRILLIANT investment by that genius Cashman!. Once again a bunch of rich LOSERS with a pathetic fan base. And how about the way ARod just hung his head when Benji lit into the home run that sealed the game...as if to say "I know Burnett sucks" ... BTW he who hung his head is he who came up empty with the bases loaded...LOL.

So now the best team money can buy finds themselves in a 3 - 1 hole. Anyone remember the last time a team came out of a 3-0, oops I mean a 3 - 1 hole? Here's hoping CJ Wilson puts them out of their misery this afternoon...otherwise the best the Yankees can hope for is a return trip to Texas and a long shot at facing Cliff Lee again...

And Texiera pulls up with a hamstring injury...hmmm:rolleyes:. Hamstring you say...?! Those type of injuries are prevalent when...?

Great to see Josh Hamilton, AL MVP really bust out last night .... wasn't it!

I love a Cinderella story and I love baseball this time of year...how about you guys?

Continued good luck to Josh and the Rangers...

PS Joe.t and the expert Ken Rosenthal still have a shot at being 1/2 right...6 games is possible, but they were on the wrong side of the coin. Here's to seeing end in 5...;)
