Who's "we" when did you two get drafted? Lol.
You haven't heard? Iggy and Joe the Schmo have been appointed Assistant GMs of the Lower Moronia Street Hockey Franchise, The Lower Moronia Maple Leafs, now gunning for the 27th straight 6th place finish, higher than any team named "Maple Leafs" has finished since 1965. Admittedly they're in a 6 team league, but still...

I dont have a problem with that at all,,,,, He will be motivated to have a bounce back season and is still capable of doing so. Time will tell, but dont count out Mr. November just yet.

Jeez, I wonder why. Actually, the Yankees biggest problem won't be signing Jeter. The biggest problem will be when they pencil him in at shortstop and leadoff.

So Joe, predictions what the Yanks will do with Jeter and will we sign Crawford and or Lee?

Right now, it looks more like Crawford & Lee will sign with west coast teams. Considering Lee is 32 years old, i think any long term deal for him would be a huge gamble.

I'd be shocked if Jeter doesn't re-sign with the Yankees.

Omg!

WTF all,

The Yankees in their slobbering, money-burning lust for players have set the standard rate of pay on their team with extremely excessive contracts to many players. Now that Jeter wants his piece of the pie by Yankee standards the Yankees are now in the embarrassing position of having to pay a player who has been the LEGACY/ICON/POSTER BOY of the team for the last 15 years who isn't worth the obscene rates the Yankees usually pass out at a whim.

In one way no one can blame Jeter for his demands since the Yankees set the standards.
Unbelievable,

Merlot
I totally agree. The Yankees have only themselves to blame.
I agree also,

Iggy agreeing with Doc in reference to his agreeing with ME???

Not true! Here's someone else you stiffed (while visiting London).

Now Iggy having a laugh at Joe.t. DAANNNM! Looks like one is mad at the other for hogging the covers. ;)

I don't think I can handle Iggy agreeing with me and laughing at Joe.t, especially at the same time. I feel like I reliving my 25th birthday collision with that tequila bottle. Ohhhh my freaking head.

BTW...I know she's Joes type, but shouldn't someone call law enforcement on her for chasing the under-aged.

Jeter Seeks $23-$24 Million Per Year

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/derek-jeter-seeking-more-than-23-million-dollars-a-year-112610

"Derek Jeter is asking the Yankees for a four or five-year contract worth between $23 million to $24 million a year, The New York Times reported Friday" versus the Yankees $15 Million for 3 years...a chasm between $45 Million by the team offer and Jeters demands of bewteen $92-$120 million. Can you say IMPASSE"!

Fans Side With Yankees Over Jeter.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/derek-jeter-new-york-yankees-fans-side-with-team-112710

"While Derek Jeter and the Yankees remained poles apart in contract negotiations Saturday, a survey of baseball fans found the public opinion was swinging firmly behind the New York franchise."

What a slap in Jeter's face. I guess being considered the LEGACY/ICON/POSTER BOY, the face of the Yankees just isn't worth what it once was.

Cheers,

Merlot

Holy shit...I thought I was in a nightmare...WOW...what a scary thought...

Ok now,

Jman

PS I haven't seen any of the genius commentary out of our resident experts on what it is the Yankees could be up to??? Ever think of this...what if they were planning on moving A-Rod back to SS after showing Derek "Past a Diving" Jeter the door and signing Beltre to play 3B...hmmmm....

I kinda had no choice that night when he flopped over right in front of me. Come to think of it, the weird shit only happens when I'm out at bars with you and joe.t! Hmmmm, coincidental? Lol.

Well, it is pretty clear by now that the Yanks are trying to show Jeter the back door, aka the Bernie Williams Memorial Gate. They sure are going about it gracelessly.

Hard to believe something like that coming from such a classy, professional and tradition steeped organization...quite a shame.
I sure hope Derek didn't spend his first $189M all in one place...

Have fun,

Coupla interesting articles in the Boston rags this morning.

First from John Tomase in the Boston Herald: Among the reasons for letting Victor Martinez go, beyond their belief that he will be a very expensive DH by year three of his Detroit contract, is the two draft picks they'll acquire, Detroit's first round and a supplemental pick. In a year with a very strong draft class, which 2011 is expected to be, the Sox have gained the 19th pick overall and another in the 30s. Through the Epstein years, the Sox have used their gained picks very well, first acquiring Ellsbury and Lowrie as compensation for losing Orlando Cabrera. Then they got Craig Hansen and Michael Bowden for losing Derek Lowe. While Hansen didn't pan out, they did turn him into Jason Bay. (The jury is still out on Bowden.) The Sox got Clay Buchholz as compensation for losing Pedro Martinez to the Mets and Daniel Bard for losing Johnny Damon to the pitiful NY Yankees. Quite a few other picks, notably Bryce Brentz, Anthony Ranaudo and Kolbrin Vitek are still in the pipeline.

Over at the Globe, it seems that Nick Cafardo has been reading my mind. "The Red Sox could have extended themselves to match or outbid the Tigers on Victor Martinez, so there’s no doubt they are saving their shekels for a bigger splash. It’s likely to be San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who would increase interest, put up huge numbers at Fenway Park, and make everyone forget they lost one of the great values on the free agent market in Martinez." As I said a couple of days ago, Gonzalez, should the Sox acquire him, will instantly be the best hitter in the American League, an absolute monster hitting between Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz, the best middle of the order in the American League. The question that remains, should the Sox acquire Gonzalez is who will the other big signing be: Werth or Crawford?

The Sox lose two big bats in Martinez and Beltre. It only makes sense that they pick up two better bats in Crawford and Gonzalez. They also gain 4 draft picks for Beltre and Martinez, losing 1 for the Crawford or Werth signing.

Meanwhile, the Yankees have been making a splash of their own.

From the NY Post: "The Yankees received $1.2 million from the Yomiuri Giants for pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo."
From MLB.com: " The Bombers agreed to terms with right-hander Brian Anderson and left-hander Andy Sisco on Minor League deals"

Where would Youkilis play if the Sox obtained Gonzalez? Third base?

Considering the Jays currently don't have a first baseman , i wonder if Alex Anthopoulos wouldn't make a run at Adrian Gonzalez. I'm certain Adrian Beltre is currently on his radar, but Gonzalez? Interesting.

More bad news for the ig-.t connexion...another fav is gone...

"After a second disappointing stint with the Yankees, Javier Vazquez is returning to the National League. Vazquez has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Marlins, pending a physical. Bill Ladson of MLB.com first wrote that the two sides were close to agreeing to terms, while Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter) reported that an agreement had been reached."

...LOL. Well at least Vazquez is back in th NL where it seems he can pitch.

Have fun,

Jman
