Ok Msc, i think you only need 14 more meltdown posts to go tonight to get to 20, get going, i aint got all night, i have 2 Leafs/Dead Things alumni games to watch tomorrow and cant wait to see Tie Domi cross check Steve-Why.

I see that - like so many other things - you still haven't learned the meaning of "meltdown" (not to mention that you still haven't learned anything about spelling, grammar, logic, or hockey). You poor rotund little man.

Yeah, I guess the only thing Tie Domi was ever good at - like most leafs - was breaking the rules and being a coward. But Tie's specialty wasn't cross-checking; it was sucker-punching someone who wasn't looking. Remember his cowardly blindsided punch on Ulf Samuelson?

I give you credit, though, for writing about the PERFECT representatives of the two teams. On one hand, we have the classy, super-skilled, universally respected Steve Yzerman, one of the greatest players of all time. On the other, we have a talentless, cowardly, cheap shot goon.

Word has it Jimmy Howard's last cpl weeks have been the happiest time of the season for him, sitting back and watching this old, soft and unskilled dead things team and not having to suit up nightly has cleared his head somewhat, BUT, he knows he will be back soon and the same ole crap starts all ovah again. Lol... (sorry my friend)

Posted by someone on NHL.com after Howard's failure in Monday night's Red Wing loss:

Question: How do you know Jimmy Howard is in net? Answer: Look at the scoreboard.

Here's what Jimmy himself had to say:

"It wasn't pretty. I felt like I was behind the play all night. I really didn't feel comfortable in there. Whenever you score four goals, you should win. The guys deserve better, they really battled hard. I didn't do my job...the guys deserve better. They deserve saves."

At least your "friend" is honest.

Indeed, Abdelkader's grandfather reportedly served under Hitler's regime. Nothing to be ashamed about since he likely didn't have a choice but to join the SS.

As joelcairo correctly points out, you're a poser and a fraud who been exposed as such on many occasions - anyone who has been following these threads over the years knows this to be true.

Well Christmas came six days late.

Yes G1G, today is a GREAT day for hockey, as the mega-millions of knowledgeable hockey fans who hate, loathe, and detest the stinkin' toronto maple leafs have just received an ironclad guarantee that the most pathetic franchise in all of professional sports will continue its 46 YEAR tradition of complete and utter failure.

The leafs are now paying over $20 million a year for each of the next 7 or 8 years to THREE players: a one-trick pony at $8 mill per year, a pylon at $7 mill per year, and a total zero at $5.15 mill per year.

Congratulations to Phil, Dion, and David for committing a far greater theft than any bank robber in history...and for not even getting arrested for this blatant robbery.

Great work, Mr. Nonis: you have made 29 OTHER hockey teams very, very happy! And that's even without considering other sources of joy such as Bozak, Orr (Colton, not Bobby), McLaren, McClement, and various other nonentities.

EVERYONE is happy today...everyone, that is, except the long-suffering fans of the hopeless and hapless leafs. Their poor fans better stock up on at least eight years worth of Koolaid!

Question: Should the Detroit Red Wings not make the playoffs this season, is it time to sell the house & start rebuilding from scratch?? Will Babcock survive the season should they fail to make the playoffs? Have the players tuned out to his nonsense?

Prediction for tomorrow's Winter Classic: Leafs will win by a goal!!! :thumb:

I'm watching the Alumni game show on CBC right now and it's just beyond sad to see a team involved in such a prestigious game having to use a 1993 where they managed to beat the Wings in OT of game 7 as their claim to fame. Contrast this with the Red Wings who had a requirement to be on their alumni team that all players must either be in the hall of fame or have two Stanley Cup wins. Apply those requirements to the Leafs and they wouldn't be able to put a team together.

What's beyond sad is that someone is actually watching the alumni game right now......sad, sad, sad!!

p.s. However, it's likely a better game than what RDS will be showing tonight at 7pm. ;)

Nothing sad about it. Any true hockey fan should be watching that game today just to show respect for the history of the teams. But I understand why a Leaf fan wouldn't want to watch it because there is so little Leaf history to be proud of. Leaf history is so thin, that they had to fill out their alumni team with players like Lanny McDonald and Shayne Corson, players who had their success with other teams and the fact they once played for Toronto is little more than a footnote in their personal history.

1. In answer to your first question, if the unthinkable happens and the Wings miss the playoffs for the first time in 23 seasons, then their plan should obviously be to do the OPPOSITE of whatever the leafs have done in their 46 YEARS of futile attempts to overcome their constant, repeated failure and humiliation. Call it the George Costanza Solution.
2. I've already answered this for you many times, but I am well aware of that little problem you have in processing (never even mind retaining!) information, so I'll gladly educate you once again. The answer is that Doctor Babcock's job is very secure...unlike Randy Carlyle's, whose job is hanging by a thread as the majority of the quickly shrinking number of leaf fans have been calling for his scalp for some time now.
3. The players are all very respectful of Doctor Babcock and his sterling resumé as one of the most successful coaches in hockey history at ALL levels. Perhaps you are confusing him with long-gone, unlamented leaf coach Ron Wilson, who - prior to being unceremoniously FIRED by his "friend" Brian Burke - was a regular "winner" of polls among NHL players as LEAST RESPECTED coach in the entire league.
4. You should have learned (from the numerous times your rotund little acolyte has humiliated himself with incorrect predictions) that it is wiser NOT to shoot off your mouth before something actually happens. MERB already has your little lapdog as its resident punching bag and laughingstock, so your services are not required.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, but I must warn you that your answers might not arrive until next year, as I am soon about to head out. Happy New Year, Doctor, and may 2014 finally bring you the wisdom to choose a better team to root for. Hint: It could be ANY of the 29 teams NOT called "maple leafs"...although I strongly recommend against choosing the Flames, given that Brian Burke is now there and might well lead them to the same "success" (chuckle) that he "enjoyed" (chuckle) before getting FIRED by the leafs. Still, EVEN the Flames - with their DIRE future - are better than the woeful leafs.

Quite true. Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk are in the same category. Even Andreychuk and Little Dougie Gilmour, who both admittedly had good years with the leafs, were not exactly longtime toronto players.

Furthermore, as you pointed out in another post, every player on Detroit had to fulfill at least one of three requirements (although many easily fulfilled two or even all three): win at least 2 Stanley Cups, be in the Hall of Fame, or be a winner of a major individual trophy.

Toronto, on the other hand, was littered with embarrassments like Darcy Tucker (the biggest whiner and crybaby in the history of the NHL), Tie "Sucker Punch" Domi, and Dave "Kisser" Williams. If these losers are the BEST that toronto can offer in such a SHOWCASE event, it tells you all you need to know about why the leafs are universally known as Canada's National Embarrassment.

Quite hilarious, coming from the little toad who celebrates every Leaf overtime loss as if it were the Stanley Cup finals. (Not that you'd recognize a Stanley Cup final if JC were to hand you his leftover ticket stubs from glorious years past.)

And No Wonder why you should never bet, lol...... you dont no how to collect, let alone WIN a bet!
Quite hilarious, coming from the little toad who takes his gambling advice from the legendary Welching Joe T.
