Doc, see you in Montreal Jan 19th? You can get a tic outside the bell for $50 at the start of the 3rd periode, i will have a $20 molson waiting for you :eyebrows:
PS. I wonder if the Bruins will let him open a hot dog stand at TD Gardens in recognition of his help in winning the cup two years ago.
Good luck to Burke, he has done a wonderful job of stockpiling talent...
I wouldn't think this talented hockey executive will sit idle for long !
the Leafs are a long way to contending for the Cup.
And the circus continues in Toronto......the ghost of Harold H. Ballard has returned to haunt the organization!
There's also a recent precedent for firing a GM and appointing his lapdog: Gainey/Gauthier...and Gauthier didn't last long!
Can one of you guys explain to me why Leafs management, after lambasting Burke's managerial style, would then hire Burke's own right hand man Nonis as GM? Nonis, apart from his 130-91 stint as Cancouver GM, has spent most of the rest of his management career in hockey as second fiddle to Burke, 1st in Vancouver and then in Toronto. One would think that Burke's managerial philosophy and methods of communication is somewhat ingrained on Nonis through all their years working together. Indeed, if Burke did not view Nonis as a worthy accomplice to his managerial shenanigans, he would not have offered him the Toronto job as his assistant after the Canucks gig went sour.
Why not complete regime change? If it is new management, why are they not bringing in their own people, instead hiring the hand-groomed lapdog trainee of the guy they just fired, while not letting the door hit him in his ass on the way out the door?
Btw, the Leafs are keeping Burke on as a Senior Advisor,
