6 day training camp starts today, hope these guys have their groins in condition because I think the stretching out on the ice will leave the players that are in less than tip top shape prone to injuring their groins, especially the goalies

Sore groin. I also have this problem every few months or so, and i'm no goalie. The problem usually resolves itself after a quick trip to Mtl.

By the way, the Canadiens have told Scott Gomez to stay home & they'll pay him for the rest of the season. He was told his contract would be bought out once the season is over.

Bergevin has also told the media that he will not trade P.K. Subban.

6000 fans showed up in St. Louis today to watch the Blues first practice, and another 5500 in Tampa.... the Game will be better than ever in no time, these numbers are very encouraging for the League. The Leafs have a open practice for all fans this week and the habs are holding a free intrasquad game thursday. All good signs!

The Leafs & Habs practice at the Bell Center next Saturday morning will be open to fans and it'll also be free of charge.

I've also heard talk that the NHL Center Ice package might be offered for free in the States for the first couple of months. I haven't heard any of this about Canada, though.

Where I'm located they certainly aren't going to give it away for free the entire season, only about 12 days. "Update on NHL Center Ice (xfinity): The free trial will be between 1/19 and 1/31, then $49.99"

I wish the fans actually took a stand to this bullshit and didn't show up on opening night. How f'n great would it be to see an empty Bell Centre or TD Garden on opening night just as "Fuck you!" to the NHL. Of course people suck and don't mind getting shit all over so this would never happen.

From what I'm reading in Canada there's a free preview until the end of January after which it will be $50.48 for the rest of the season payable in two installments of $25.24.

I will wait until February before deciding whether or not to buy this year. So far I leaning no.

I will buy the 48 game centre ice package, it is hard to be mad at hockey, for me, plus now with a guaranteed 8 years before another cba, (10 yr term with opt out after 8 years) the game will get better and better........ most teams you can find free streams if you do some research on the net, but sometimes they are not very good, and i do not wanna watch every game on a laptop. Just glad to have the NHL back.

Another show of support from fans here:

Congrats to Claude Giroux on being named Captain of the Flyers. He is one of the top 5 players in the NHL but also a great guy it seems.

On another note, it looks like the lockout will not effect the fans from staying away very much. I am watching NHL Network and in detroit they are showing a huge crowd watch the end of practice with a shootout and the fans are loving it. Similiar stories have been found all around the league. Had there not been a season, it would of been a different story, but at least that did not happen, thankfully. Cant wait for Sat night at the Bell Centre! Go Leafs Go

Wow, now avatar's are being censored depending on the thread in which they appear!

Once you select an avatar, it appears in every thread, if I am not mistaken. I am not aware of being able to pick multiple avatars, and selecting which one to use depending on the thread you are posting in. If such a feature exists, I would like to know more about it.

My sources tell me that at least six teams are after free agent Scott Gomez, which include the Canes, Devils, Isles & Sharks.

I hope Gomez can bounce back & have a decent season with whatever team he choses to play for. He's not a bad guy & even though he's lost his scoring touch, he's still one heck of a good skater & a very good passer. Considering he's from Alaska, i wouldn't be that surprised if he doesn't wind up in Vancouver (even though Alain Vignault stated to the french media he's not interested in him) since they're short on centers & British Columbia is next door to Alaska.

My gut-feeling is that he'll wind up with the Devils, where he was once a very popular player with the fans & where he has his best seasons. He also loves the NY area & if not with the Devils, i could see him signing with the Isles a.k.a. Brooklyn.

Wade Redden has signed a 1-year deal with the St-Louis Blues for $800 000. Great deal for the Blues!

Hopefully they will have enough nose candy for him there

Ah, that used to be a rumour circulating about a younger Wade Redden from his days with the Senators. He's a good family man now & has matured.

Speaking of 'nose candy', many would be surprised to learn who was into the stuff over the years. Today's hockey players aren't into that stuff much anymore, though. Heck, they barely drink these days. Boring!

Carey Price suffers groin injury at yesterday's scrimmage

During shoot-out drills, the Canadiens goalie suffered a slight groin pull during a shoot-out drill.

Price missed today's practice & coach Mike Therrien told the media that Price was underdoing therapy for his injury.

Will he be ready for tomorrow night's opener? Will the injured groin impede his performance for a good part of the season?

Two of my sources have just told me that Scott Gomez will sign with a west coast team, either San Jose or Anaheim. They say that the team he choses will likely be the Sharks since he expects they'll have a contending team in the final sprint to the Cup.

Another of my sources told me that he really would have wanted to join the Canucks, but supposedly head coach Alain Vigneault wants no part of him.
