BOYZ,
The latest word on Adrian Peterson is that no matter how the child beating issue turns out his relationship with the Vikings is over. That's tragic considering what a tremendous athlete he was and still is. It's also tragic that the NFL by it's own permissiveness and failure to have in place strong behavior codes that might have made it very clear about real consequences of very questionable behavior on and off the field. It's one thing to be a random sexual tomcat making babies wherever the seeds fall, no one cares or wants to interfere. It's another to abuse the children of those seeds.
We know social ethics are a sham in the NFL and it's very unlikely anything meaningful would have been done, as with Rice's original 2-game suspension, if the public had not gotten outraged and sponsors had not threatened to remove $$$. But had the NFL used a little foresight on the importance of the relation between publicity and business profits the NFL might have used more preventative measures that might have kept superstars like Peterson in the game for everyone to enjoy. Unless some of these guys are just too stupid to protect their own careers...and no doubt some are.
