BOYZZZ!

Merlot you don't know what you are talking about the Pats have overachieved so far which is mainly due to the fact that they have excellent coaching and know how to plug holes well. Talent wise they are not as good as in past years but they will be 6-2 after today.

That's right EB, you always harden a bad position you're being embarrassed in. Definitely not a clone. This isn't the first time LaFell has shown his skills. So you are way behind on that. I never said they are as good as in the past. They Patriots have rarely ever had the great standout talent offensively since 2001, their gift has been the ability to adjust and make the most of whatever talent they have had. That means they are doing the same things they have always done. Hardly over-achievement. They also have BRADY!

Your problem is you inferred the Bears might actually win this one. The Bears are getting reamed up, down, sideways. How the heck in your football acumen did you miss this one so badly. The real question here is why did you over-estimate DUH Bears so much?

You need to read your NFL scouting reports better and then speak.

This game is putting so-called "football experts" and their believers to shame.

I didn't predict the Bears would win but with all their supposed talent it is reasonable to expect they might have had a win. Obviously they have sucked hippo balls today and it looks to me like they have lots of issues. I said earlier they were the biggest underachievers in the NFL and today's game continued that trend.

Regarding Brandon Lefell this guy never has had more than 49 Catches in a season, actually averaged low 40s with the Panthers and was never a featured receiver. With today's 11 catches he is now on pace for 60. He has developed nicely but to act like he was some stud before he got to NE is not what his stats say. He is a good player for NE's system and uses his body well. NE has a track record of picking up average players who play well in the NE system.

Lets all hold hands and say a prayer for the Patriots who will be playing the red hot Broncos and their record setting QB next week(a slaughter in the making), it's definitely looking like it will be Broncos, Lions Super Bowl.

Missed last week, would have picked SD on Thursday ( Eeeek ), the rest against the spread: DET , TB , CHI , STL , SEA , NYJ , MIA , HOU , BAL , ARI , IND , OAK , GB , DAL... TADA.
Taking my daughter shopping, dropping her off at a friends place, fresh 40 of Appleton , BBQ chicken and NFL ALL DAY.
YIKESS!!!, not a good week Sol, I will personally help you rebound next week.

What a great win by the Skins last night. Everyone had picked the Cowboys to easily win it! And to top it off, the Skins did it with 3rd stringer Colt McCoy, who hadn't started in 3 seasons! What a game!

The Cowboys lost the game because they could not protect Tony Romo from very basic blitz packages that every NFL team uses. Also the Cowboys RBs are somewhat turnover prone. Just a really bad game by the Boys OL and the OL coach who was schooled.

Tony Romo has just been ruled out from today's game against Arizona.

Therefore, i've just switched my pick in my pool.

You guys who don't live in New England don't realize how bad the winds are right now and this situation will continue through game time of Pats-Broncos. These winds will effect the passing games.

It's windy as shit, I was working in my backyard and almost got blown down by a gust. Those marathoners were probably fighting winds and it really must have sucked.

The Washington Redskins bus was involved in an accident today on its way to the stadium.

No injuries were reported & the game will begin on time.

I've picked the Vikings, even though RGIII is supposed to start for the Skins.

BOYZ,

Somebody ask EB what the NFL Scouting Reoprts/NFL experts were saying before the "overachieving" New England Patriots cut the alleged best team in the NFL, Denver Broncos, and their super-hyped quarterback Peyton Manning, the alleged quarterback of the decade, absolutely to pathetic shreds yesterday. Last year Denver went out and spent $100 million on giving Peyton the weapons to turn around that ugly Super Bowl beating with some offensive superstar talent supported by more very good receivers while the Patriots were making sure they built the kind of defensive backfield that has all the potential to win Super Bowls, with Browner and Revis, while adding a few average receivers like Brandon LaFell, and tight end Tim Wright. Then key injured players like Gronkowski and Wilfork returned at the same time a young team got better. Rookie Bryan Stork is starting on the offensive line supported by Nate Solder back from injury. The Patriots have now figured out where each player fits in best and this team is a long way from that September team that looked so befuddled and fragile. THE RESULT: The Brady-led Patriots put up the same 43 points on the Peyton-led Broncos that they were crushed by in last year's Super Bowl. So Brady was supposedly "losing it". PATRIOTS 43 Broncos 21. Take that scouting report believers...Peyton lovers...Patriot haters.

It’s Brady vs. Manning as the Broncos & Patriots collide at Foxborough this afternoon!

A matchup up between future hall of famer QBs...Should be a dandy!..........I guess Brady is no longer as washed up as the media declared to be several weeks ago!...and neither is Gisele!!!!

Almost everyone was talking like the Broncos were on an unstoppable path back to the Super Bowl and Peyton was stamping himself as the greatest quarterback ever. Well, that's why they actually play the game. If one had thought about it...hmmm...that Denver defense is EH, not that good, and their running game...do they have a real one. Still, led by the great Peyton of that over-hyped Manning clan and given that receiving corp of Thomas, Thomas, Sanders and Welker the media and the public were in full adoration mode. How could they lose to the OVER-ACHIEVING Patriots. The weather is no excuse. I drove home from Montreal yesterday. It was windy, snowing south of Boston. My car is not exactly the most stable ride on the road and I was doing 70 mph steadily as long as no one slowed me down. By game time only a choppy wind remained in Foxborough. Let's also not forget that the physics of a ball thrown through wind does not change because of who throws it, and if you believe all the years of hype that advantage should go to Peyton anyway, proven by his great mass of career yards and 100 more yards in this game. So that excuse don't cut it. It was the game plan. It was the ability to use defenses more effectively and for the opposing quarterbacks to read them more effectively. In last years Super Bowl Peyton got beat by another quarterback who was more effective throwing to receivers when and where it counted more and was smarter about how to read defenses. It was more of the same yesterday.

Well sorry about all the bubbles that got smashed yesterday. I LOVED IT!!! :D

BTW: here's a breakdown of all the match-ups between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning before yesterday:

BRADY -

PPG 29.1
Passing Yards 3680
YPG 245.3
TD Passes 27
INTs 12
Rushing TDs 3
Passer Rating 96.4
Comp Percentage 66.8%

P. MANNING

PPG 24.7
Passing Yards 4371
YPG 291.4
TD Passes 31
INTs 20
Rushing TDs 3
Passer Rating 88.0
Comp Percentage 62.7%

WINS (including yesterday):

Tom Brady 11, Peyton Manning 5

Head to head and with less potent offensive weapons. BRADY HAS PROVEN BETTER! If you want to know who is better head to head...ask Peyton.

Cheers BOYZZZ,

Merlot

PS

Another game that would have been the usual "GUARANTEE"...that FAILED!

PPS:

I don't know what the point spread is. but I see the Colts winning over the Giants by the end of the 3rd quarter.

BOYZ,

Trent Dilfer: I was wrong about the Patriots

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-...4771590/dilfer-i-was-wrong-about-the-patriots

ESPN NFL analyst Trent Dilfer drew a lot of attention with his scathing criticism of the New England Patriots following their Week 4 blowout loss to Kansas City, saying the Patriots were a "weak team" and, most notably, were "not good anymore."

He was seemingly declaring the end of an era for the Patriots as a dominant force in the AFC.

Five weeks later, after the Patriots throttled the conference-leading Broncos to win their fifth straight game following that loss to the Chiefs, Dilfer was singing a different tune in an interview with ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd.

"I made the mistake I hate making in this job, and that’s knee-jerk reacting to what you see in real time and not thinking about who you are saying it about," Dilfer said Monday in backpedaling from his comments following that Kansas City game. "What I forgot at the moment, and what I think anybody who wrote the Patriots off early forgot, is what Bill Belichick has done over his career: getting the most from the least and the best from the best. And let’s not forget, that’s what coaching is. So at its core, being a great coach is getting the most from the least and the best from the best.

"He’s always been able to do it, but you couldn’t understand anybody’s name on offense [earlier this season]. [Rob Gronkowski] looked like an old man running around injured. They couldn’t protect Tom [Brady]. Defensively, they were OK. You just couldn’t do the math on how they could be any good.

"But what I forgot, and what others forgot, is that this is a developmental league. And early in the season, there’s so much hype in the offseason on who’s gonna be good, who the stars are, what teams are gonna do, that early in the year you knee-jerk react when you don’t see it come to fruition. And you forget these guys don’t get a ton of time together in the offseason like they used to.

"So what football has become in the NFL is how you develop your roster and how you develop stars. You become a king maker as a head coach, especially if you have some pieces like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski and others to build around.

"I’m just blown away. I was truly blown away last night [by the Patriots’ performance against the Broncos]. I heard what you said this morning about Peyton and control, and I agree with that. But by saying that, you’re taking something away from the Patriots and how well they played and how they were able to defend Peyton Manning and lock down the perimeter guys and stop the run with light boxes.

"Offensively [the Patriots are] just a machine. They’re playing at a high tempo, with multiple personnel groupings, multiple formations. You can’t get a bead on what they’re doing. Tom’s just dealing versus man coverage, hitting guys between the numbers. Against zone they’re getting guys wide open. It was really, really awesome to watch the Patriots."

I know all my Merb sports buddies feel exactly the same...after taking several shots of brandy to deal with the shock.

Happy Scouting Reports...BOYZ!

The Indianapolis Colts destroyed the NY Giants last night by a score of 40-24. It was nice to see Andrew Luck bounce back from a sub-par performance last week against Pittsburgh.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles suffered a broken collarbone, but he won't require surgery. However, he may miss up to 2 months and now the Eagles' starting QB will be former Jet Mark Sanchez, who was impressive on Sunday against Houston.

This is Sanchez' chance to revitalize his career. If he performs well for the next 6 to 8 weeks, teams will come calling during the off-season.

Texans Bench Ryan Fitzpatrick

Looking at QB rating stats, I see Ryan Fitzpatrick is ahead of at least 6 other QBs who have managed to hold on to their starting jobs for now. Is this fair?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating

Granted he has not played great, but if you bench him then don't those other 6 guys below him in QB Rating also have to be benched? I don't see this as being terribly fair.

BOYZ,

The Giants got annihilated by the Colts. I predicted the game would be over by the end of the 3rd quarter and it didn't even last that long. It was 37 to 10 and the Giants were should be damn grateful the Colts didn't get more in the 4th quarter. Some NY players had a few drops but Eli was poor, and the Gaints defense was a shadow of itself, despite some great catches by the Colts, in one case stealing the ball for a touchdown. The funny thing is Luck threw only a little over 50% completions and even then the Giants got totally burned. Luck is up and coming but he isn't there yet. It took as many NY breakdowns as great catches to make this game a route.

This sets up a situation where Brady and Luck go into a week off each seeming red before meeting each other two weeks from now. The NFL and the media should have a lot of fun promoting this one. However, the Giants are a long, LONG way from being Peyton and the Broncos. The Patriots routed a much better team and Brady put on a much better performance than Luck against a comparatively much superior opponent. Based on this past weekend, don't be fooled that the Colts and Patriots might seem to be on the same level. You know EB, the over-achieving Patriots. ;)

This is Sanchez' chance to revitalize his career. If he performs well for the next 6 to 8 weeks, teams will come calling during the off-season.

Yup! This could be his last shot. He's never really been great but he could be a decent steady quarterback. He's got a pretty could team under him so this is IT!

Cheers, :D

I'm just upset that we missed Joe.t's SURE SHOT pick of the week last Sunday for Denver in which he would have bragged how they were going to annihilate the over-rated, over the hill Tom Brady. Hahahahaha...I can only picture Joe's bookie walking away from him counting 100's in the air.

BTW, not looking too good for the Cowgirls now that Romo's got a busted back. Ouch!! Here comes the collapse.
