We got it bad on the first wave 1 year ago. Our CHSLD were not prepared to this and we have much more elderly than other provinces and and more of them are in those CHSLD where contagion happened.. But we learned from that and we are now getting out of this third wave in better shape. Our vaccination is going well, 37,7% as of 11am today. Daily cases dropped dramatically since 1 month on drastic actions. We learned as opposed to other, misinformed and reckless.
À bon entendeur, salut!
I agree the vaccination campaign is as good as it could have got. The decision (although a gamble at the time) to go single shot, the choice to emphasize Montreal were the right decisions and they deserve credit for this. Ontario's vaccination is not as efficient. Their reservation systems suck and overall things are slower.
Here is death per million and case per million data. Red Quebec, Blue Ontario, Green Alberta. We see that Quebec did poorly on the first two waves in terms of deaths. It was not just the first wave. And this is what pisses me off. First wave was a surprise to everyone and yes the CHLSD were an issue. 3rd wave is all about variants and is a new game. But second wave was avoidable. And I do not understand the high death rate vs cases in the 2nd wave.
The second chart (cases) shows Alberta did poorly on cases in the 2nd and third wave. What is scary is it continues to rise. Ontario has the worst behind it
So I still believe Quebec's record is not to be bragged about. However Legault has shown more leadership than is Ontario counterpart.
