Rep Anthony Gonzalez--- Republican who voted to impeach Tromp--will not seek re-election cause of ''toxic dynamics '' and calls TROMP...''a cancer ''.....wow...again that says a lot sur ce qu'est devenu ce parti...pitoyable.
He again proved his disrespect and that he is a poor excuse for a human being. Not sure how all the anti Trumpers on this board missed his comments about Colin Powell. I didn’t see how his comments will help unify the Republican Party or the country for that matter. I know they did not like each other but Trump’s comments were definitely over the top:
Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America

Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!
I can't tell if these tweets are real, but they wouldn't surprise me if they are. I rejected my Christian faith decades before Trump came into office. But had I still been a Christian when he won, I would have left solely for how so many Christians have debased everything they've preached to follow the purest antithesis of a Christian. I bring this up because I saw this sticker a few days ago while buying l'essence

I have as one of my client a minister of a very large congregation (of mostly minorities) who is staunchly pro Trump. He has a PhD in Divinity Studies and attends many religious conferences and tells me all of the organized religious vote went to Trump. This is because as he tells it, "Trump is a friend to organized religion and the core values we espouse." One of those "core values" is being against abortion and nominating Supreme Court Justices he believed would illegalize it. While Trump himself is not a religious person and he seemingly debases many of the values for which these religious leaders stand, they had nobody else to go to.I can't tell if these tweets are real, but they wouldn't surprise me if they are. If Trump faces Ronny D in Republican primaries and debates, it will be interesting. Honestly, I do not think Ronny is a slouch and he will do better on a national stage than you all think. Ronny D has an undergraduate degree from Yale and graduated from Harvard Law School cum laude. You guys are very wrong if you think these institutions are graduating stupids. Ronny D is a different kind of populist than Trump- he is the populist with a resume, and the educational pedigree. We will see if it shows up in debates. I see Ronny D as a really formidable contender for the Republican nomination and Presidency, and if you do not see that, you don't understand American politics. How he handles the "I made you, you ungrateful fucking sonofabitch" attack that one can see coming from Trump will be interesting to watch. Grab the popcorn; in fact put in an order to Cloudsurf's Kitchen, as I heard he will be opening a seasonal popcorn business during the primaries.
None of the Republican presidential nominees from Reagan to Romney would get the nomination again in today's Republican party. That pretty much says it all.If it was still the early 2000s, I'd agree with you. But rationality seems to have left the American right & recently Trump still had a very commanding lead among voting Republicans.
Poll: Without Trump in the race, DeSantis dominates 2024 GOP White House hopefuls
Nationally, the Florida governor’s popularity among Republican voters has skyrocketed.www.politico.com
"If he decided to run again for president in a crowded 2024 primary field, he would get roughly half of the vote, with DeSantis in a distant second place at 19 percent, according to a new survey of GOP voters from veteran Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio."
I agree with most of what you have posted above on this issue. I was talking about this today with my father and he thinks it likely Biden will not seek a second term. While this would seem like a very positive development for the country, you next have to wonder who the Democrats can put up there that is a reasonable/electable candidate. Kamala Harris would seemingly be a frontrunner, but I see her as a far left wing candidate who just based on her positions could not carry a national election against Trump, Ronny D or name your Republican. My father thinks that apart from that, people don't like her and many voters who know little about her will not warm to her on a personal level when they know her better. In some of the congressional hearings she appeared at, she behaved in a condescending and chippy manner. She will suffer from some of the same personality problems HIllary Clinton had as a candidate. It looks that the U.S. will eventually have a far right wing nut running against a far left wing nut for President. Thanks to the stupid primary system that only interests radicals, and our exploitive media that gives attention to nut jobs because it creates better entertainment and more advertising dollars..
I gave you a like, but Biden is far, far closer to Bill Clinton than he is to AOC. A huge part of his win came from facing Trump. Obama essentially governed in Bill Clinton's moderate fashion. The progressive wing that AOC represents isn't winning the nomination anytime soon. Even if you lump Bernie and Elizabeth Warren together in the progressive wing, they've been crushed by the moderates like Hillary and Biden. That said, you're absolutely correct that the Democratic electorate has moved further left.I agree, but unfortunately the same thing is happening on the Democrat side.
Bill Clinton couldn’t get the nomination again. Obama was really a moderate, but his race attracted the far left, so they ignored his moderate, also called reasonable, positions.
Biden was acceptable to the far left when they realized too many of their own were running against each other for them to win, and he promised to be a transitional candidate.
If you look at the Carville / AOC snipes at each other, you can see that, unfortunately, the future is with the far left for the Democrats.

Trump actually understands this, coming from the television/entertainment industry. It was amusing how he commended AOC for having a following. He said that scared those old men Senators. Maybe what scares those old men senators is what they see happening to the country between Trump and AOC.
