Tampa Bay rookie defenceman Mikhail Sergachev has 20 points this season. That's more than any other Hab. The Habs traded him along with a conditional 2nd-round pick to Tampa for Jonathan Drouin. Think about this.

Why did they draft Sergachev if they were just going to trade him for an underachiever? What a sad trade that was. Sergachev is going to be an All Star defenseman and Drouin will always be an injury prone underachiever. It was obvious he was a whiny underachiever in TB, he only had value due to being French and local which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. I don’t really understand what the thinking was? TB was looking to trade Drouin for 2 years so you help them out and send them an All Star defenseman? WTF?

1. How could you perform when the team starts (Thanks to the goalie) 0-2, 0-3 and sometimes 0-4 and you have to play
catch-up while the other team swithches to defense.
2. Most probably Bergevin himself will be "Traded" end of the year. (Another victim of the goalie's bad play through the years).
3. Who would pay $10 M for a below average to a mediocre goalie that much money (Unless the team picks up the $9M) ?

When you make a bad contract you have to acknowledge it and eat some of it. The swallow would probably only have to be $5 million worth. The Yankees who just traded for Giancarlo forced the Marlins to eat $35 million of that contract. Of course the guy is reigning NL MVP but Marlins still overpaid based on the length of the deal. The Habs made a similar mistake with Price and they just have to cough up some money to make it happen. It's doable.

This is probably why he needs to be traded. What happens to guys who are given big contracts is that the organization makes grandiose promises to them about being highly competitive, and then cannot deliver on them. We just heard today a very disgruntled Giancarlo Stanton, in his introductory press conference with the Yankees, take many shots at the Marlins, the organization that signed him to a 13 year, $325 million contract, of which he has played 3 years and has 10 left. Among other things, Stanton called the Marlins an "unprofessional circus" which played musical chairs with managers, organizational strategy, and player personnel, each and every year. Despite the generosity of the contract Stanton received (which was insane, in its length, for a player who has been injury prone and is only 28), he threw the Marlins under the bus and wanted no part of their future, insisting on a trade. This also despite the Marlins eating $30 million of the deal.
I see in Price the same dissatisfaction brewing. It can and will ultimately come to a boil, and then, his trade value will be fully depleted when he adds the description of "malcontent" to "overpaid", "injury prone", and "aging." One reason you trade him is to preempt the malcontent label from developing, which further damages his trade value. And losing will wear down any highly paid player who has any pride. Just ask Giancarlo Stanton, now freed from the Miami Marlin trainwreckage by a valiant baseball explorer named Brian Cashman, a 21st Century version of your own Jacques Cartier.

I agree with the both of you but what i find hillarious is the fact that Carey Price's extreme contract only starts kicking in NEXT season. Next season! The contract is already problematic and it hasn't even starting kicking in yet!!!
I ask the both of you: What was the big rush for Bergevin to re-sign him?? Why couldn't it wait until the second half of the season? Did Bergevin actually believe there was a team out there who'd want to sign him to the kind of money & term that he gave him?? And even so....why sign him so soon? What was the big rush?? If you look objectively at Price’s stats, his save % has dropped precipitously the last two years, from .934 to .923 to .899, which is a really dismal save % for any upper echelon goalie. Dominick Hasek led the NHL in save % 6 straight years in dominant fashion and saved at a career .926 %, which is pretty good! Price is under .900% which sucks for any top goalie.
Currently there are 5 NHL goalies with save % of .930 or better, Dell of NJ, Crawford of Chicago, Vasilevskiy of TB, Quick of LA and Bobrovsky of Columbus. Price is ranked 36 of 40 qualifying goalies!!!!! In case you are wondering who is ranked #40, it’s James Reimer of Florida who has amassed a goat ball sucking .894 Save %. Price is only percentage points ahead of that level of suckitude.

In save % Andersen and Hellebuyck are ranked #9 and #12 respectively, both behind #8 Subban who, according to you and one other brilliant analyst, should be benched. Why should we talk about them when a guy who is better should be on the bench, according to you?

As I said in my prior post the stats do not lie. In sports you play the best players and you know who are the best players from their stats. You don’t play someone simply because he is a White French guy like you. The best players start, the rest sit and watch and try to get better.
Subban should be the starter because his stats say so.
