Leafs played very well....they shot 52 times at Carey Price. But once again, Price was the star of the game. Even PK Subban praised the Leafs effort after the game and added that Carey Price was the difference again. Max Pacioretty also said pretty much the same thing and added they're going to have to find a way to stop relying so much on Carey Price game after game.

Final score was 5-3 habs. Bernier let in a couple of soft goals. Maybe the Leafs could find a way to get Columbus to trade them Sergei Bobrovski.

I am not sure i like what i am seeing from the Leafs the last 6 games, they are playing extremely well and executing the "Babcock System" to a T. If this keeps up, kiss a top 3 pick goodbye next June, but at the same point, there will be plenty of decent players to bring picks back at the trade deadline as well.

On the other hand, it is nice to see the guys working their butts off for Babs and the logo on the sweater, being rewarded.

Reimer has been (dare i say it) Outstanding the last 6 games.

Babs will right the ship before all is said and done in his tenure in the Centre of the Hockey Universe. Go Babs!

I feel your pain as well. The Leafs are playing way too well this season. There are only two games that weren't close. Not only are they playing too well, but had quite a bit of bad luck in some games they should have won. Nazem Kadri may be their best forward, yet he's been extremely snake-bitten so far and it's only a matter of time until he starts putting numbers on the board. Morgan Rielly has been their best defenceman and Jake Gardiner has also played extremely well. Dion Phaneuf is finally being used properly. And Reimer, well.....he's been nothing short of great and in my mind has become the Leafs #1 goalie. Bernier is very good, but he has a tendency to give up a cheap goal nearly every game he plays in. This is hard on team morale.

The top 5 picks at the next draft are expected to all be great picks. If they continue playing this way, damn it, the Leafs won't have a crack at those picks. But let's not forget that they own the Penguins' first pick in the upcoming draft, the pick they got back in the Phil Kessel trade. The Pens aren't playing as well as they should and i don't remember seeing Sidney Crosby look so uninterested. The fire is gone. And i was watching their last game against the habs and Malkin was terrible! Kris Letang is still one heck of a defenceman and M-A Fleury is playing great. But i'm not sold on the chemistry between the coach (Mike Johnston) and the star players he's paid to coach.

The Leafs lead the league in puck-possession and the Red Wings are the league's worst. That's quite a turnaround!

It is only a matter of time before Babs will have more victories than blazehill in head to head matchups in the coming years, that is if blazey does not get fired after a year or two.

Detroit also has the worst goals difference per game average in the entire NHL. The oft-injured Pavel Datsyuk is back in the lineup tonight, so he should give them a boost....until he gets injured again, that is. Is he related to Joffrey Lupul?? lol

Datysuk wont even play 50 games in a season anymore, what is he, 40 now?

If supposedly blazhill was taught by the Best Coach in the World, MISTER Mike Babcock, then why is detroit's possession numbers so horrible? Apparently the "student" was asleep or too busy being the class clown to pay attention to the Master. Always pay attention to those with more wisdom, blazy! :D

I don't believe Babs was ever able to teach him anything. I don't believe they've ever coached together. The highest level Blashill had ever coached until this season were the minor league levels, right?

Datsyuk isn't a young man, you are correct. Neither is Zetterberg, they're second-best player after Datsyuk. Yikes!!!

p.s. The Red Wings should have hired Randy Carlisle instead. He would have been a better fit for that team. But they decided to go on the cheap instead and went with the minor leaguer.

Babcock already has the Leafs playing terrific hockey, which is astonishing. With better goaltending (i'm referring to Bernier), they could easily have 5-6 more points in the standings. I'll go on a limb: currently as i write this, the top Canadian team are the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ottawa & Winnipeg aren't playing well, Vancouver is good but got beat by the Leafs, Edmonton and Calgary are a joke, and the habs are realizing again that they can't win without Carey Price. They were recently embarrassed 6-1 by the Avalanche at home. Even with Price, they likely would have lost. You can win in this league if you can't score goals. When Dale Wiese is your best scorer, you have to take a good look in the mirror and wonder how good your team really is.

The Leafs are also one of the hardest working teams in hockey. They are polar opposites of last season. I also love the passion Babs displays behind the bench. The hard work is finally starting to pay dividends. They may not make the playoffs this season due to a very slow start, but i'm once again enjoying watching them play. Meanwhile, Phil and the Penguins are struggling mightily and the Leafs own their #1 pick in the upcoming draft.

Holy Smokes Batman! Babs has this team playing some of the best hockey in the entire NHL the last 7 or 8 games as a whole. Don't screw up that top 3 pick Babs!!!!!

The future looks very bright for the team that resides in the centre of the hockey universe in a few years. William Nylander is absolutely tearing up the AHL and Mitch Marner is doing the same in the "O"........ so much for not having a true #1 centre in a few years, we will have TWO studs.

Speaking of centre, i think Kadri had another 7 shots last night, he is playing awesome but not getting much reward but once they start going in, look out.

I will admit i am not the biggest James Reimer fan but he deserves kudos for his play of late. Has he won goaltender of the week yet?
Leafs just destroyed the team who beat the habs 6-1 the other night! Leafs are currently the best Canadian team!

Indeed, he was named goaltender-of-the-week last week. Just imagined where this team would be in the standings with a bit of luck in some games. Like that game in Washington where the Caps tied the game with only 0.7 of a second left, and then won in the shootout. Like that recent game in NY where Bernier let in that soft dump in from the red line, and later that huge rebound he gave Zuccarelo with less than a minute left to go and the game tied.

This is the hardest-working team in the NHL right now and it's finally paying dividends. Dion Phaneuf is once again the team's best defenceman and playing all-star calibre hockey. The Parenteau signing looks brilliant. Kadri is playing very well. So are the likes of Komarov and JVR, among many others. I really like Shawn Mathias and Matt Hunwick. And Optimus Reim has been a revelation lately and a big reason for his team's success.

But i won't get my hopes too high. Most observers expected them to struggle badly this season and predicted they'd become competitive in only a few years. Babs' coaching brilliance has proved everyone wrong. Cairo was right: Mike Babcock is the best coach in hockey!
