Jman47,

And how many steps ahead were the Red Sox on John Lackey? Are you aware that Lackey (18.7 million) is earning $2.2 million more this year than AJ Burnett (16.5 million) for essentially being in the same role? What exactly are the Red Sox receiving in return services and is the value better with Burnett or Lackey?

Hello all,

Approximately $50 million steps ahead to be precise...I believe you missed or are ignoring Doc's point...

Jman, Yankees fans have no concern about the fairness of a salary cap. It would ruin the team strategy of "Win At All Costs".

A-Rod is 3rd in the AL in RBIs, is on pace for 124 and leads all 3rd baseman in RBIs (including Longoria who was voted in), so you are requested to explain why he does not deserve to go. The other 4 guys in the top 5 in RBIs in the AL are all on the team.

BTW: Funny how it's all about stats to defend the place of one player, then all about intangibles to defend another. It's convenient to use whatever you want regardless of consistency...or lack thereof. Notice one needed his regular team coach and the other begged on tweet.

"What exactly are the Red Sox receiving in return services and is the value better with Burnett or Lackey?"

Answer: How many times has Burnett blown up just this year? Lackey may not be the great pitcher he's being paid to be, but at least the Sox still have a chance by the time he leaves the game.

Cheers,

Merlot

Now Merlot,

It's perfectly ok when you talk out two sides of your mouth as long as you do it with Yankee pride, class and tradition...

Well so far...
AJ is 7-7, 4.75 ERA

Lackey is 9-4 (8th), 4.40 ERA

When Lackey pitches you can pretty much know you will get a performance consistent with his career numbers.
When AJ pitches you close your eyes and hope you don't hear any loud explosions.

Now, we don't want to go player for player and do this do we? Hmmm....

Have fun,

Jman

PS What you forgot to mention about Cashman is that he has never been afraid to trade away the future(prospects) for the present...just look at the Granderson for Jackson deal, lol and now you are talking about platooning the guy. Problem is while he has been doing it - in 10 years he only has 1 ring...while Theo has 2 and still has a team and a farm system full of young talent.

Cliff Lee traded to..............the Texas Rangers!

Cliff Lee was going to a contender no matter what. Turns out it was the Texas Rangers, not the New York Yankees.

After talks between the Seattle Mariners and Yanks fell apart Friday afternoon, the Rangers jumped in and reached agreement on a trade for the left-hander, sources confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

The New York Post reported that the M's sent Lee and reliever Mark Lowe to Texas for first baseman Justin Smoak and three minor-leaguers.

The Mariners will also send $2.5 million to the Rangers to subsidize the $4 million still owed to Lee. Texas has financial limitations due to bankruptcy hearings associated with the sale of the team. There has been speculation that the Rangers would not be able to add weapons for the stretch run.

Lee is 8-3 with a 2.34 ERA this season for the Mariners, his first in Seattle. The Phillies traded him this offseason after acquiring Roy Halladay.

Lee won the Cy Young while with Cleveland in 2008. Over nine seasons he is 98-55 with a 3.84 ERA.

So maybe Brian Cashman must know a little bit if other teams want the Yankees prospects and the Yankees have 2 other major league prospects at catcher in their system?

It's obvious what Cashman is doing but few are slick enough to see it. He will replace Vazquez with Lee, and once Lee is secured, Vazquez will be traded to the Phillies for Werth. Cashman just happens to be a bit shrewder and a bit more aggressive than his peers. He is always one step ahead.

Beave, i'm saying it as nicely as i can, but YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT MY MAN! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

(I guess your man Brian wasn't slick enough, shrew enough, and as aggressive as his peers this time around! LOL!!!!)

Hello all,

It's obvious what Cashman is doing but few are slick enough to see it. He will replace Vazquez with Lee, and once Lee is secured, Vazquez will be traded to the Phillies for Werth. Meaning that either Gardner or Granderson, probably Granderson, will be platooned with Werth. It's called building depth on a team and it's called putting a winning team on the field. He has been doing it for 13 years now so why is anyone claiming surprise? It's called seizing the moment. It's all done on a level playing field and within the rules. Cashman just happens to be a bit shrewder and a bit more aggressive than his peers. He is always one step ahead.

First of all, I suggested this scenario a while ago in regard to Cliff Lee and the Yankees when he beat them a couple of weeks ago. So maybe I should run the Yankees. No thanks!!!

Hell that feels amazing. You know Doc. I think it was high time someone said that. Some of these Yankees fans act so damn entitled to everything that they could use a big fat painful comeuppance for a big fat dose of painful reality. Of course it won't last. Give these Yankee boys 30 minutes and the delusion that Cashman is a "genius" will reboot in their self-entitled minds. But...OH HOW THEY DID GET USED!!!

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/texas-rangers-cliff-lee-seattle-mariners-trade-070910

The Yankees had emerged as the front-runner earlier Friday before a proposed deal stalled because of the Mariners’ concerns over an ankle injury to one of the three players they would have received, Double-A second baseman David Adams, major-league sources said.

"You just don't do business that way," one Yankee official said. Others in the organization were more understanding of the circumstances.

The Yankees believed they had a deal with Seattle, but the Mariners took the package to the Rangers and said if Smoak were included, the deal would be done.

wa wa wa wa wa waaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hello Lgna69xxx,

LOL.
While your attempt to talk baseball is appreciated...you may want to post accurate information. Once again your lack of knowledge shines.

Well for starters you may want to try to use some current pics. 2 of the players you show are not even on the team anymore. And Lowell has not been in uni. And its been 4 losses in a row - easy to find. Just google mlb and look in the standings. They will show you the current win or loss streak.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/?tcid=nav_mlb_standings

Happy to help.

Have fun,

Jman

My point was simple(class)...stop trying to point out I have none. People who know me, know better. But if you keep poking me in the eye...I'm gonna poke back...truce.

4 losses in a row? wow, nitty gritty lol... i guess i missed and just saw the 6, but that was how many in a row the Yanks have won, my bad!

Btw, it was the first picture that popped up and any pic of a red sox player hanging his head in defeat works for me! PS, update 6-0 sox over the Blue Jays now in 3rd.

post away my friend, im off to My Apartment in Montreal

Have Fun :)
