Why? He doesn't know a single thing about baseball. Anyways, love him or hate him, Joey C is our little buddy & we should all show him some love, right? :D

How the hell would you know what I do or don't know about baseball? Maybe you should follow the examples set by Thurman Munson and Roberto Clemente.

Well I am not really sure what this means because both Clemente and Munson were killed in plane crashes..........are you suggesting that Doc try to kill himself in a plane crash?

The rout is on in TO and it is ugly! The other good news about Cliff Lee not going to the Yanks, at least we won't here from Beav for another couple weeks or so while he burrows back under his rock! LOL.

Of course not - that would be nasty, especially to a wonderful human being like Doc. Besides, Thurman and Roberto didn't "try to kill" themselves - both deaths (especially Clemente's, given the circumstances) were tragic accidents.

Now, if I had suggested that Doc learn something from Billy Martin - which of course I would never dream of doing - that might be construed as nasty.

Hey Cairo,

Sometimes we talk baseball here and sometimes we get on each other about baseball. But it always centers on the sport. So no offense, but either stick to baseball or take you personalized stalking crap agenda and get the hell out. You cavalier attitude about some very nasty crap says it all.

ADIEU,

Merlot

Yes sir. Right away sir.

Now you want me to die in a plane crash because i said that you don't know a thing about baseball?

Man! This is getting nastier than the Judy Star thread!

Considering i'm flying across the country this weekend, it would indeed be quite ironic if i happen to die in a plane crash. Yikes!!

Well the Red Sox took out the frustration of losing 4 straight on the Blue Jays tonight thumping them 14 - 3.
Jon Lester improved his record to 11-3.

Well Jman,

It was a great day today. Two incredible beatings, the Red Sox blow out victory and the Rangers with a major league spanking of the Yankees. So I'm taking a poll on which was more enjoyable and satisfying. Hey, I just love it any time the Sox have a dominating win, but I'm still rolling on the floor about those Yankees and the incredible dose of humility they got shoved up their.......nose...lol. So is it the Sox v Toronto or the Rangers v Yankees that was better. I have to vote RANGERS all the way. What a great treat!

And if Lester doesn't go to the All-Star game it's another crime.

Chuckles,

Merlot

PS

Got a feeling Doc won't be voting "Sox".

Actually, wouldnt it be funny if it came down to the final day of the season and the reason the sox lost out on the wild card was because of one game, the game that Cliff Lee should of pitched against the Yanks tonight but since he was traded, the Yanks faced a inferior pitcher?

Dont look at it as the Yanks lost out on Lee as much as the other way around, i mean how bad must one feel for Cliff Lee? He was snubbed out of a ring by the Yanks in the World Series last season when they defeated the Phillies for yet another hard earned Championship, then he was snubbed by the Phillies for Roy Halladay, and shipped off to Seattle. Now, it was said tonight he was calling CC Sabathia to ask some questions about places in NYC to live and was excited to become a Yankee only to find out he got snubbed again and sent to Texas! ... Lee is the one who lost out the most today, indeed!.

Meanwhile, Phil Hughes pitched another gem and the j-rump jinx continues along as Big Tex belted out his 16th, AND 17th homers and Arod collected his 70th RBI enroute to the Yanks and MLB's current longest winning streak of 7 games in a row, Long live the jinx boys!

I think the Yankees have also won 4 straight series on the West Coast....not easy to do, even though 3 of those series were against below .500 teams. Regarding Lee, I am relieved Tampa Bay did not get him, and I think the Yankees were concerned that him going to TB was a possible huge problem that needed to be blocked. This story is not over however, as from what I read the Rangers are on the verge of bankruptcy and Lee may have some trouble getting paid. So he may end up being both jilted and stiffed, Iggy, and that is a very, very hurtful combination.

Ironically Hughes was the guy most effected, because I figured if Lee was obtained by the Yankees, Hughes would have been the odd man out in a 4 man playoff rotation as Vazquez would have been traded for Werth. Now Hughes stays in the rotation for the playoffs and Vazquez is the odd man out. I don't think that is a terrible dropoff, but it would have been nice to have picked up Werth and when the smoke clears, what the Yankees really lost is the opportunity for a possible trade acquisition of Werth, though they still could get him in free agency in the off season.

Do the Rangers have enough to beat the Yankees in the playoffs? I think the more pressing question is do they have enough to win their own division.

Wow...I have to get me a pair of them glasses you boys are warin'...
3438-large1.jpg

It must be great to see the world through pinstripes(NOT)...what a crock you two spew...like every player in MLB wakes up every morning and says...geez, golly, garsh darnit...I wish I were playin' for the Yankees...

BTW congrats Beav, after that huge dose of egg on your face yesterday, I was sure we wouldn't see you for a week or two. But now that your able bodied baseball encyclopedia has shown up to assist...we can talk BB all day...CC was giving were to live tips to Lee......
ROFLSmiley.gif

Man I know someone who is reading this and just dying to jump in on the action.

Anyway...just a reminder boys...they play 162 games and anything can happen (just ask Mo).
Lee will get paid, Seattle sent $2.5M (of the 4 they would have paid him) with him as part of the deal and...ironically the Rangers collect all that money from Uncle George...lol.

Have fun,

Jman

PS The question with the Rangers will be can their young arms sustain performance through the rest of the season. Nolan Ryan has been a large proponent of "screw the pitch count" (I happen to agree)...time will tell...

PPS The trade deadline hasn't past yet...I for one can't wait to see one of two things happen. 1. Who out maneuvers Cashman next... or 2. What stupid move he makes thinking he has to do it quickly before he is out maneuvered...should be fun.

PPPS Merlot - I have to go with the Rangers...LOL. And to add to the temp fanatasy - I would be wearing a Rangers jersey while she was wearing a Yankees jersey...badda bing...lol

Iggy, you must be an Irishman born on St. Patty's Day, because if there were an Olympic event for french-kissing the Blarney Stone...you'd be the gold medalist.

Gotta love how these entitlement obsessed Yankees fans think. They're not an MLB team, they're a benevolent society. But instead of saving the poor and homeless they're dedicated to bestowing obscene loads of lucre on superstar athletes...alone...lost...and so darn undervalued. The official team sainthood is in the mail.

All that happened was the Yankees, and their "genius" Cashman, got royally screwed the same way the Yankees have been unabashedly screwing every other team. The only question I have is: WAS IT GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Happy Cheer Up Day!

And with good reason to celebrate in pinstripeville...as our friend Joba is up to his old winningless ways again...You gotta love it!

large_yankL.jpg

Since Cashman couldn't sign a starter, maybe he can find someone to bridge the gap to Mo...after all we wouldn't want him to miss his opportunity at blown saves, would we!?

Javier Vazquez anyone...

Exerpt from another thread...
Hopefully we will not have to make any similar decisions in the near future and we can go back to spanking people for fighting with each other in the sports threads.

Allo M8,

And here I thought M11 was the funny guy...
