Oh no! Say it ain't so, Manny!

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5727014

Noooooo.....because he so belongs on the Yankees...aging....rapidly declining skill set....shit attitude....over paid....A PERFECT FIT WITH Joe.t's dream team...

smiles_419.gif

Doh, another Cashman Genius decision...let's recap...the cheeseburger could not execute; little phil ran out of gas; c andy andy is old and broken; and burnett just sucks. Couple all of that with the ineptitude of the manager in the playoffs add in the TOTAL LACK OF OVERPAID OFFENSE and it was obviously the pitching coaches fault...

My 2011 roster (best case senario)

Infield:
Teixiera, Cano, Jeter, Rodriguez.

Catchers:
Posada, Montero, Cervelli.

Outfield:
Crawford, Granderson, Swisher.

Rotation:
CC, Lee, Pettitte, Burnett, Hughes.

Bullpen:
Frankie Rodrigues, Logan, Robertson, Chamberlain, Wood, Mo.

Perfect...a perfect group of overpaid, aging, out of gas Yankee monuments. We actually agree on this .t ... with this team under the skilled leadership of Girardi and the guidance of Cashman, we agree...because this is the team I was thinking would be like 82-80 and finish 3rd or 4th in the AL East next year. Having you onboard with a prediction seals the deal or fate as it may of the 2011 Yankees.

Bwhahahahahahaahah, pretty uptight these days eh jman? Lets REALLY recap. Your team spent 160 million and finished where? oh yea, lol, 'Nuff Said! (damn injuries  damn inept farm hands ) anymore EXCUSES? your supposedly "great" (self proclaimed) minor league system got exposed for what it is, average.

Will always guarantee playoffs, as you found out this season

With a Baltimore team looking improved after a ex Yankees Mgr took over, and a exciting young Blue Jays team only a few players away from contending, looks like missing the playoffs might be a recurring theme for the foreseeable future in red sox dreamland, well, one can only hope now cant they! :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Beltre end up with Blue Jays or the Yankees.
Quite possibly. The Yankees do need a third baseman.

yea, the sox put him on waivers after they realized theo made ANOTHER bad signing. Joe, if Lee doesnt sign with the Bombers, who would you go after?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Beltre end up with Blue Jays or the Yankees.

Does anybody now what ever became of Jeremy Hermida, who was projected to stardom by rumples.

Now this brings us to Jeter..... he has slowed down with age, thats expected, but you dont just throw your captain of the last 14 years away when he still has the ability to help you win. Is he gonna get $18mil a yr again? i sure hope not, but he is a natural born leader and for everything he has done for this organization and still has alot to offer, you sign him for a 1-2 yr deal worth 10-12mil per and let him retire a Yankee. But it wouldnt surprise me if he has a very good year next season and bounces back from his worst ever. Tough Decisions for sure but a heck of alot better than a majority of teams need to make to be better than this past season.

I agree with some of what you said Iggy except for your take on Jeter. Yea, sign him for 1-2 more years and have him retire a Yankee that's the right thing to do, the right thing for him to do would be take the pay cut and sign for maybe $10M / year, he's not worth more than that and if he demands it he's out of his mind!! His next couple seasons are not going to be better than the one he just had. Age is catching up with him fast and will be his demise sooner rather later.

Oh and on Farrell joining the Jays, all the best to him. He's been nothing but pure class in his tenure with the Sox and deserves this managerial promotion!

My right hand man at my shop for the last 21 years is a Yankee fan and we've gone at it pretty hot and heavy on a fairly regular basis. We're in total agreement on Jeter, however. The Yankees did the sensible thing with Babe Ruth after the 1934 season and released him. The Yankees did the sensible thing with Joe DiMaggio after the 1951 season and pushed him into retirement. The Yankees did the sensible thing with Bernie Williams after the 2006 season and chose not to re-sign him.

Derek Jeter in 2011 and beyond can only drag the Yankees down. If he had a lick of class, he'd retire now with dignity rather than pose as a statue in the field and as powerless .275 singles hitter at the plate. His decline this year was severe. He's no Elvis Andrus, that's for sure.

Personally, I hope the Yankees give him a four year deal.

Igna, there is a dandy of a hot hot hot rumor that the Yankees will try to trade for Greinke, imagine, Pettitte retires and the Yankees get both Lee and Greinke, can you say "World Series Champions" for 2011.

Meanwhile look for the Red Sox to try to sign Bartolo Colon.

Why did I take you off the ignore list to read this? There are 1514 posts in this thread prior to this one and this is probably the stupidest thing written yet.

Put him on waivers? You can't put a free agent on waivers.
Bad signing? The Sox signed him to a bargain basement, one year deal at $10 M. According to Fangraphs, he was worth $28.3 M. Compare that to Alex Rodriguez. He was paid $33 M and was worth $15.4 M. Now that's a bad signing.

By the way, A-Rod's value declined for the 4th straight year to the point where he can no longer be considered a star. He was barely worth half of what Beltre was worth. Longoria was worth almost as much as Beltre at $27.7 M.

Edwin Encarnacion was worth $7.3 M in just over half a season. Depending on who the Orioles get to play third base, it's certainly possible that A-Rod could be the worst third baseman in the AL East next year.

My source tells me that Lee has told his agent to start looking for a house in New York, keep in mind that this is the exact same source that said that Texeira told his agent to start looking for a house in New York, we all know how that story ended, I would say that it's a pretty good source, sorry for this very disturbing news rumples.

Any news on Bartolo?.

Hello all,

can you say "World Series Champions" for 2011.

BWAHAHA! You've said that every year this past decade. You're 1 for 10.

I've come to believe Joe.t is actually a child's toy with a very limited recording caught in a repeating loop.
31szubk4ol_ss500_.jpg

Yeah, I've met him. Still convinced!

Count to 10 then look for a new record.

Honestly, no one should be sneering at 125 RBIs in 137 games. But stars should be able to like...hit...in the playoffs.

Cheers,

Merlot

No. Your posts in sports threads read like Ernie from Sesame Street...lol. You mean that's NOT what you were going for...lol. So why do you repeat the same short one-liners year after year?????

BTW...So your not also upset with Iggy at the Stooges reference to others. Oh that's right. There's a rule about not having arguments with him on your love seat...lol.

Yes, she's hot. I hope Ernie brought his winky...BWAHA!

Hugs,

Merlot

Now Merlot,
You know the answer to that...give poor dumb and dumber a break. They are like the see and say wind up toys. Each animal only has one saying. LOL.

Hi Rumples,
You are falling into the same trap I do my friend...trying to win an argument with an ignorant man(men)...lol...never gonna happen. Let them play on the farm and dream of how Cashman can blow another $200+M. Real question is when is someone gonna wise up and fire his ass?! I say he has pictures of a Steinbrenner with a farm animal...

And I agree...give Jeter and Posada 4 year deals...Petite too! Hell, bring back Reggie Jackson - he could do better than Swisher!

And Iggy,
How about you get off your horse shit hostility theme  and speak some educated baseball. Oh, I forgot...you need to know something first. 'Nuff said. Your transparent little games don't work with me little fella...ya know like the one you are playing with the signature playing the mods for fools.

Have fun,

Jman

Actually, Jman, I think an awful lot of Swisher. Too bad he's a Yankee as he'd be quite likable in a different uni.

Be realistic, Jman. I've had more sophisticated baseball discussions with 10 year olds. The man/child is a moron and belongs on your ignore list as he is on mine.
