Joe.t,

8 innings of 4 hit ball by Pettite today. It was mentioned during the game that Pettite did not retire because his sons are now at an age where they think it's really cool that he pitches for the Yankees (probably because their classmates at school do, but also because they are at an age where they are starting to appreciate major league baseball). So they asked Daddy if he would continue to pitch. So Daddy said yes, and now Daddy has a 2-0 record and 1.35 ERA in his 1st 3 starts.

Teixera homered into the right field mezzanine, and again made a bunch of great defensive plays.

The Yankees swept the Rangers while the Rays swept the Red Sox, no wonder rumples doesn't stay up to watch the games.

Quote - "This team is simply not hitting" - Jerry Remy April 18, 2010.

Beav - The Yankees are off to a red hot start, usually they start slow, I would not be surprised to see the division wrapped by the all-star break.

The Rays look tough. I think they will be in it until the end, although I think the Yankees have better pitching than the Rays and an overall deeper team.

unfortunately, it cant be this easy all season, and i am sure it will come down to the Rays/Red Sox battling for the wild card, Go Rays!

It will not be, but I never saw a Yankees team that drove up starting pitcher pitch counts like this one did the last 4 games....if you look at the pitch counts they caused the last 4 games it's almost ridiculous. They are absolutely wearing people out and that is why the games are so long, because the Yankees lineup does not swing at bad pitches.

But they now go on a 9 game road trip, and a 5-4 road trip could be in the offing. I'll actually take 5-4.

If they continue to play that way, and stay patient as a team regarding the way they read pitches and only swing at good ones, as a team, they will dominate the AL East. With the Depth at pitching they have, Joet may be right. btw, where is the Allstar game this year?

btw, the top 3 performers in the first 2 weeks of the season,

1. Robbie Cano 2. Mo Rivera 3.Mr. Andrew Eugene Pettite

Also , have you noticed what a great asset Gardner has become, that white boy can outrun anyone in the league! but i bet he cant jump, cause we all know "white men cant jump" :)

Fastest white guy I have ever seen in baseball. I actually don't think he is such a great hitter and I hate the way he slaps at the ball like a fairy, but he gets so many leg hits that they cannot be ignored. He completely has opposing defenses panicked because of his speed. I never saw anyone draw so many rushed throws, overthrows etc. I sometimes wonder if the Yankees have hyped him very effectively and have whipped other teams into this panic, because while he is fast as hell, he is not Rickey Henderson.

Well ALMOST anyone...A quick Google search netted:

Brett Gardner 40 yard dash = 4.38 seconds
Jacoby Ellsbury 40 yard dash = 4.20 seconds

jacoby_ellsbury_steal.jpg

Hope Brett likes second place...

You guys consider baseball what is on the YES network...lol...you have to actually watch all the teams to make qualifying statements about who is the fastest, biggest , longest, strongest...

Let me help refresh your memories...Jacoby is the guy who stole home on the Yankees last year...ring a bell?

Have fun,

Most NFL wide receivers can't run a 4.38. I never heard of anyone running 4.2.

Jacoby Ellsbury is classified as Native American, not white, correct? Brett Gardner is a legitimate Caucasian.

Google it Attny Beav...

You got me on the technicality though, well done...he is a Native American.
I do have my crack team working on Gardner's family tree...lol

Not retracting though...LOL

Jman47,

I don't question your posting and the NY Times is normally impeccable authority, but nobody in the NFL can run a 4.20 40 yard dash.
I would believe that Gardner can run 4.38, but that is VERY fast. I think someone lied or embellished to the NY Times, as I have never heard of anyone running a 4.20. 4.38 is fast for an NFL receiver. Anyway Ellsbury is Native American so he is disqualified for the title of fastest white guy.

Beav,

The quote was "Also , have you noticed what a great asset Gardner has become, that white boy can outrun anyone in the league!"
So Gardner may be the fastest white guy, but he CANNOT outrun anyone in the league.

Didn't say he can outrun any white man, pink man, green man, purple man...

Thanks for the chat. I refuse to chat with the f***king moron.
I've stated the facts as printed...I'm out.

Have fun,

Jman

PS I never said Gardner was not fast, he is just not as fast as Ellsbury(nor does he have the hitting skills of Ells).

You sir are full of shit, if he ran 4.20 he would be playing in the NFL, sorry to burst your bubble.

Hey, I was just wondering...

1. So why isn't Gardner playing in the NFL?
2. How many stolen bases did Gardner have last year?
3. Are you questioning the accuracy of the reporting of YOUR NY Times?
Once again your statements are founded in bullshit.
Now I'm out.

Have fun,

Jman
