Doc has not vanished, and in fact, he might be closer than you think, lol. And trust me, the day will come that you will have to give props to ole Burkie, and sooner than you think, but we both know you will bawk bawk out like a typical habs fan, and continue to live in the past like only habs fans can do. Typical., but OH SO Expected!

1. Oh sorry, you seem to be confused: I am a Wings fan, not a Habs fan. Funny, I could have sworn I already posted that a few hundred times.

2. Bawk bawk - gee, isn't that the sound Leafs fans make when they BACK OUT of bets? Play back some recordings of yourself - I think you'll hear it. I know GHG, GIGBallday and I have heard you making that sound SEVERAL times!

Lame.... but expected  Good luck with your habs this coming season, and your scapegoat team also, which reminds me, Holland overpaid for Ericsson, and now added former Leaf Ian White on the D, at least getting a former Leafs was a great move right? LOL, cant wait to hear you weasel your way out of this one!

PS, you mean something like 40 plus years that the red wings never won anything also? Lemme guess, you were not a fan then right? Or, you started to be a red wings fan after they started winning, leaving your real team, the habs in the process, right? Detroit is an easy choice to say your a fan of. :thumb:

1. They are not MY Habs. In case you haven't been able to figure it out, MY team is the Wings.

2. Thanks, but I don't think I'd like to see you drinking even a single beer - you're scary enough when you're sober.

3. Ho hum. As usual you are defending Burkie's horrible errors - although to give you credit where it's due, at least you are FINALLY admitting that they ARE errors. Bravo to you for that.

4. Ho hum again. As usual you are predicting greatness for your inept squad. Haven't 44 years of COMPLETE HUMILIATION and FAILURE taught you anything? Haven't the LAST THREE YEARS of LOSERDOM taught you not to shoot off your mouth before the season starts, only to look ridiculous when your heroes fail yet again?

Not my fault ghg didnt have the cojones to publically accept the bet , you snooze, you lose. Wanna bet this year, i have no problem as long as you accept it and pay up like a man, no "pretending" a bet went thru when it actually didnt. Stuff like that doesnt fly in the "betting" world. So once again, your statements are as false as who your real team is.

Detroit was ALWAYS my team - even in the lean years. By the way, Detroit's lean years were 42, whereas Hogtown's are now at 44 and counting (and counting, and counting, and counting....). And when Detroit emerged - which the Leafs have YET to do and probably never WILL do - they won FOUR (!!!!!!!) Cups and made the playoffs EVERY YEAR for two decades!

Detroit is called Hockeytown because of GREAT names like Howe, Lindsay, Sawchuk, Delvecchio, Ullman (who later played for the Leafs as a shadow of his former self), Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and on and on and on.

Toronto is called Hogtown. Let's list some "great" Leafs: Tie Domi, Colton "not Bobby" Orr, John Kordic, Mike Komisarek, and on and on and on.

Okay, to be fair, the Leafs have had a few good players. Let's see: there was Dave Keon FOUR AND A HALF DECADES AGO. There were Norm Ullman and Andy Bathgate long past their primes with the Wings and Rangers. More recently (recently meaning "only" THREE DECADES AGO) you had Sittler and Macdonald, both of whom left the Leafs bitterly and later HATED the organization.

Yeah, easy to see why Detroit is Hockeytown and Toronto is Hogtown!

I'll offer you exactly the same bet that you weaseled out of in the past: I say Detroit does better than Toronto in the 2011-2012 season. If I'm right, you leave MERB forever. If I'm wrong, I leave MERB forever.

This should be easy for you for two reasons: 1. You're bragging as usual about how great the Leafs will do. Okay, so back it up. 2. Even if you lose and have to leave MERB, you won't be alone: you can ride off into the same sunset as your vanished buddy.

So? Do we have a bet?

................... Ok, im good now.

And for the upteenth time, i dont make bets i dont think are more in my favor, which the original bet was between the Leafs/habs... I would never bet the Leafs would have more points than the red wings yet, in a year, maybe but im realistic and understand it takes time to build a contender. If we land Stamkos, YOUR ON! lol.....

If you really believe the Leafs are as bad as YOU think, then bet me the habs will end the season with more points than the Leafs, pretty simple... unless your dont really feel the Leafs are that bad, which i can totally understand ;)

Yea, i just saw this trade before you posted Vismund C....... kinda of a even trade...also ALOT of rumors about Stamkos going around.

Dany Heatley traded to Minnesota for Martin Havlat. I didn't see this coming. Time for Heatley to go all douchey in Minny.

Dany Heatley traded to Minnesota for Martin Havlat...

Havlat is in a better situation moving to the Sharks but Whoo-a!!! Heater to the Wild ... he's got Mikko Koivu and former Sharks Setoguchi but WTF!!! Complete surprise is right! Kinda like a brick wall coming at you outta nowhere.

Yea, it was a one sided deal for sure but Lombardi said yesterday he is hoping to be ready for training camp in september so if he is 100%, this is major highway robbery. Lombardi can absolutely fly and would be a perfect fit on the young fast Leafs.
Love the Leafs landing Cody Franson from Nashville! But shot, great offensive upside... still, Lombardi was a cash dump by the Preds since Lombardi won't play significant mins with his concussion problem.

Nice deal for Burke!

What a surprise (not!) that you again bawk-bawked your way out of the bet I offered. I guess even YOU have figured out that the Leafs are nowhere NEAR the Wings in class, talent, and ability.

Well, you know what? Even though the Habs are not my team, I accept your counter-offer: if the Habs have more points than the Leafs at the end of the 2011-2012 season, you leave MERB forever. If the Leafs have more than the Habs, I leave MERB forever. It's a done deal, so don't try weaseling out this time, and don't try welching out if you lose.

This is not a bet I would have chosen since I like to bet on MY team (Wings) just like you CLAIM you like to bet on yours (Leafs). Still, the Habs have been a lot better than the Leafs the past few years (as have almost ALL the teams in the NHL) and the organization certainly has a lot more class than the no-class Leafs, so I'll do my best to write you a ticket out of here. Too bad we didn't make this bet a year ago: you'd already be gone.

Meanwhile, Octavian has written TWO posts offering you another bet and you haven't yet responded, although you've found the time to post other stuff. I think you owe Octavian the courtesy of a response.

P.S.: Don't forget OUR bet - payoff time will be next year when the Leafs get their usual early start on the golf course.

Welcome back "Trotter"

MONTREAL -- The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Brock Trotter to a one-year, two-way deal.

Trotter had nine goals and 17 assists in 49 games last season with Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League.

The five-foot-10, 180-pound left-winger had 57 goals and 78 assists in 172 games with the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs between 2007-10.

Trotter led the Bulldogs in goals with 36 in his last season with the team before going to play in Europe.

The undrafted 24-year-old previously joined Montreal as a free agent in 2008, but went scoreless in just two games played with the team.

Notes: Habs defenceman P.K. Subban announced on Twitter he was going to Haiti to visit a children's hospital destroyed by the earthquake that devastated the country in January 2010. The hospital is being rebuilt by World Vision and the NHL Players' Association. He's joined by former Montreal enforcer Georges Laraque, whose parents were born in Haiti

Kaberle a 'Cane

Tomas Kaberle has signed a three-year, $12.75 million deal to play for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Kaberle had been the longest tenured member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, before being dealt at the trade deadline to the Boston Bruins. He helped Boston win their first Stanley Cup since 1971-72.

He had four goals and 43 assists between the two teams last season, and played all 82 games.

The 33-year-old from the Czech Republic has 84 goals and 445 assists in 902 career games.

Yandle re signs with Yotes'

The Phoenix Coyotes will have restricted free agent defenceman Keith Yandle on their blueline for the foreseeable future.

The club and the 24-year-old have agreed to a five-year contract that will pay Yandle a total of $26.25 million.

Last season, Yandle posted the third most points of any defenceman in the NHL, recording 11 goals and 48 assists in 82 games played.

Ladd re signs with Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have avoided salary arbitration with forward Andrew Ladd, agreeing to a five-year, $22 million contract with their captain before the 5pm et deadline to file.

The deal will pay Ladd $4 million next season and $4.5 million in each of the following four seasons.

"I'm getting married July 17 in Las Vegas," Ladd said Tuesday. "It's exciting -- now we can kind of let this all go by and start focusing on that and get excited about that big day."

Ladd, 25, posted career highs in goals and points with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2010-11 recording 29 goals and 59 points in 81 games. The Maple Ridge, BC native was named captain of the Thrashers on November 18, 2010. Ladd joined the Thrashers after a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 1, 2010, in exchange for defenceman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a second-round pick in 2011 which the Blackhawks used to select defenceman Adam Clendening.

"The last year's been pretty exciting for me in terms of the different role that I was given," said Ladd. "To be one of the leaders with that organization and the opportunity to play more and be in more situations (was nice).

"It seems like it's going in the right direction for me and I'm looking forward to keeping that challenge up."

Ladd has won the Stanley Cup twice in his career, winning his first as a rookie with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006 when he scored five points in 17 playoff games. He won the Stanley Cup again with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, recording six points in 19 playoff games. Ladd also won a gold medal at the 2005 World Junior Championships when Team Canada won the tournament in Grand Forks, ND.

In 402 career NHL games with Carolina, Chicago, and Atlanta, Ladd has recorded 208 points and 219 penalty minutes in 402 games played. Ladd was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, fourth overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Leafs lock up Clarke MacArthur

RealKyper Nick Kypreos
#NHL signing. #Leafs lock up Clarke Mac Arthur. A 2 year deal believed to be worth 6.5M.

If true, this is a great deal, and Burke does a great job again. Clarke wanted 3-4 years, Burke wanted 2 years max. Welcome back Clarke, keeping one of the NHL's best 2nd lines last year together is huge.
