"Boyz",

I pretty much agree with you about this. Carlyle and Farrish have had success in the past but you need the right players for that to happen each and every time. I am disappointed in Frasers play more than anyone. He is way to slow to be up on the play as he cant get back in time when the other team rushes up ice. Liles we have in Gardiner and Reilly but at a much larger salary. He needs to be traded and if nothing else, so he gets to play, he is still a good player. Ranger, not sure about this anymore. He has had what, almost 40 games on the NHL (preseason and reg season) and is still not up to the speed that he needs to be. I like the guy but not sure he is the same player he used to be, taking 2 full years off is hard to get back to what he once was.

I think we are about to see some moves soon, after Jan 1, maybe sooner. Personally i would love to see a couple Marlies get their shot in place of Fraser and Ranger, but a trade would be better because both have to clear waviers if sent down and they may have no movement clauses as well, not sure.

Nice to see Thornton get 15 and Clarkson 2.

Shanny's doing a great job getting rid of players who do stuff that does NOT belong in the game of hockey.

On another note, Brian "The Hair" Burke is at the ACC tonight scouting the Leafs/Hawks game. Wouldn't surprise me to see a trade between the Leafs & Calgary now that he's the main guy in Calgary. JML maybe? When he signed his recent contract, he said he'd go through a wall for Brian Burke, which was one of the main reasons why he had decided to stay in Toronto.

However, it's quite possible that Burke is in town to speak with either Dave Poulin or Claude Loiselle about possibly joining his management team in Calgary.

A player I'd love to see in a Ranger uniform just lost his mind as well ( Gudbranson ) :

I saw that he's gonna get no extra punishment per the NHL

Best Regards

It seems like a very rational and fair suspension length for Thornton. I'm slightly surprised it wasn't more. But why was Neal only given 5 games for going straight to the head of a downed player. In both cases the hurt players were helpless to react and both were struck in the head. Maybe getting carted off is the difference, but Neal took a head shot against a player who was already possibly trying to deal with a concussion, which was not known at the time, before the hit.

Also Orpik himself took a shot on Eriksson whose head hit against the boards. So a ride on a cart nullifies the damage to Eriksson who just came back from a concussion? :noidea:

Techman was right. If the officials had done their jobs right there would have been a lot less trouble and damage.

Typical loser Leaf fan excuse

Lucic claims he was hit twice, and a lot of shit is being talked back and forth between the parties on the video. Can't really tell what happened. These modern Bruins don't really get it. They should be reading the books of Derek Sanderson and Phil Esposito. Sanderson and Espo partied as hard as anyone in Bruins history. They had designated bars that they went to where they were treated properly and these kinds of issues did not happen. Sanderson actually had his own bar in Boston called Bachelors 3 and later it was sold and had a different name. In fact Bobby Orr required the Bruins teams to meet at designated bars for 2 drinks (non-alcoholic if the player so chose) after every game to discuss the game before they parted to meet with their WAGs. I really think the modern NHL players are spoiled, overpaid pussies compared to Espo and Sanderson and Orr. It probably never occurred to Lucic to reach out and speak to Sanderson about how to conduct yourself as an NHL player.

Ok, so I watched the first episode of 24/7 last night. The highlight was coach Randy Carlyle calling for maintenance to get his toast out of the toaster lol.

Lucic is from Vancouver, it's his hometown, so I don't find it odd that he's goes out to party in his hometown. From the video it appears that he also mentioned that he was friends with the owner of the bar. I commend him for not beating the antagonist to a pulp and setting himself up for a lawsuit, hopefully it will be handled properly by the VPD. On a side note he said after this latest event to go along with the vandalism of his Serbian church after the Canucks lost in the SC Finals and the abuse his grandparents and parents took at the Rogers Arena he will never again be seen in the Vancouver night scene!

As for your post on reaching out to Sanderson and Espo, that's just absolutely asinine in every sense. This is the 2010's, not the 70's Beav. I'm sure there's many many incidents that occurred in those times that were caught on CAMERA PHONES!! Wake up, things have changed alot since 1970.

CONGRATS PENGUINS

No surprise of course, but still great to see a severely depleted Penguins team beat the hopeless leafs 3 - 1.

Any fan can say something wrong that seems correct to them out of frustration, but Leaf fans have a long track record employing any excuse regardless of the stark contrast to reality...ie...Burke's a genius but the Leafs never made he playoffs under his leadership. A case in point was the game mentioned above. Doc's excuse, the Leafs have too many injuries. Then the Penguins with 55 (62%) more lost man games lost than the Leafs carved out a clear cut victory. Why? According to Doc the Leafs should have whipped the Penguins, yet the much injured Pittsburgh team is #1 in the East and #3 in the NHL in contrast to Toronto which is 7th in the East and 16th in the NHL.

Lesson, there's a lot more to winning and losing than injury games lost. The Toronto boys on Merb claim their team has talent. Given that why can't they win against teams that are much more beat up or have lesser talent. Answer, clearly there's something wrong with either leadership, training, motivation or some combination, but something is going very wrong in Toronto beyond simple injury stats. The recent dry run of 12 straight games without a regulation win against all levels of opponents points to that sad fact. I don't believe in curses, so it's something defective within the organization. Just FACTS!

Even to the casual viewer, the differences between these two franchises are glaring and obvious. Let’s put it this way: if you are the g.m. of a newly minted team, what model would you try to replicate ?

Detroit has a culture of winning and accomplishment. Toronto has a culture of losing and failure. Babcock is not satisfied that his team has not won a championship in 5 years. Meanwhile, the sad-sack, bottom-feeding Leaf franchise hasn’t had so much as a sniff of the finals in almost 50 years.

Btw, does Phaneuf ever smile? He seems to have this perpetual scowl on his face?

Yes GHG. I thought it was great that Doctor Babcock clearly expressed his opinion that (only) 5 years ago was a long time since the last Cup. In a team with a WINNING culture, that says everything.

Another thing that stood out: the PHYSICAL differences between the 2 coaches: Doctor Babcock RUNS for a half hour while Poor Randy struggles with a toaster and complains that almond butter is healthy and they don't have peanut butter anymore. Just LOOK at the two coaches for the visual results of their respective lifestyles.

It was inspiring to listen to the classy comments from Wings such as Zetterberg, Kronwall and Cleary (whose "heart" wouldn't let him leave Detroit for Philly). It was also instructive to hear the thoughts of new Wings Alfie and Weiss. But best of all was to see the reverence that the Detroit players and Doctor Babcock have for Datsyuk. They're with the guy all the time, but they're still constantly in awe of his brilliance. Now THAT is respect!
