My picks...Toronto

Hmmm,

You sure about that???

The Bruins have been poor of late going 3-5-2. I was skeptical as you seemed to be. But a lot of of fans and analysts said they were cruising into the playoffs and could turn it on when they wished. Cruising, if that was the case, is understandable to a point to spare the team from injuries, but I thought it was a mistake to get too far off one's game. It can create bad habits and make it tough to regain the edge a playoff team needs. However, it looks like the Leafs are proving me wrong.

I can hear some Toronto fans crying in their beer from here. Not that I can get too excited about an ***ASTERISK*** season. But for the Leafs fans bragging rights are the best they can hope for.

Well...4-1. :D :thumb:

Hey, anyone know how the great Kessel did tonight.......:eyebrows:

Cheers,

...No real experts in here, just fans...

But you leafs fans, give up really fast...

Hey Boys,

This is not a pissing post so it doesn't belong in the free-for-all thread. It's just facts here.

For all the stuff about being "real hockey fans" and the endless bravado about the Leafs building a tough great team, I find it ASTOUNDING that both Leafs fans are talking like they have quit. Is that what Leafs fans are made of. Two years ago the Bruins lost the first two playoff games at home in a season that was up and down and practically no one expected them to go far. They came back from deficits three times to take game 7 each time. Now the Leafs have lost 1 game and all we see is the fans are already making requiem posts like they have QUIT.

Is that what 46 years without a championship has done to Toronto fans, destroyed their faith so bad that they are making concession speeches after one damn game. I thought Toronto fans were known for their loyalty. WHERE IS IT!!!

The Bruins have had a bad time with the Penguins and Canadiens. Toronto, if I'm not mistaking the record, lost one outright, lost one in overtime, and won one. It's not exactly a wipe out by the Bruins. If Boston could hang in for three 7 game series in 2011, can't Toronto fans stand up for one series???

Geeeeeez,

Really???

"The first star whose name wasn’t called on Saturday night: The coach of the Maple Leafs. This win over the Boston Bruins was accomplished by the players but this night was all about the coach. The coach who tied the quarterfinal series with the Bruins at one game apiece - with so much looking lost and awry after a dreadful opening game to begin the series."

"This was the definition of quality coaching: This is why you hire Carlyle. He put in a game plan, his players executed it, the four lineup changes made a difference, the subtle and not subtle responses to attack the Bruins, the brilliant manipulations of Phil Kessel - something he hadn’t done before with such vigilance"

The Leafs fan within me wants the Leafs to win. However, the Bruins have had their number over the past season or two. A team like Montreal would have been a better match for the Leafs, while the Bruins would have been a better match for Montreal, who will have its hands full with Ottawa.

Happy the Leafs finally got the monkey off their back and made the playoffs, whatever happens in the playoffs happens, good or bad,...

...but Boston is a stiff challenge for sure. GLG!

In an asterisk season...bud.

Before game 2 it was concession speeches, and at least we made the playoffs. The Leafs were "lost and awry". Our two Toronto boys sounded like they were quitting. Now Carlyle is quality, brilliant, vigilante. So why couldn't he do this when the Bruins didn't have to shuffle their lines because of the suspension of Ference???

Yes, it was a critical win. But the Bruins also played poorly giving the Leafs a number of outnumbered attack advantages they didn't get when the B's were at full strength with lines used to performing together. The Leafs did what they were supposed to do, and no doubt Carlyle's decisions helped achieve that. But game 2 didn't prove much due to the disadvantage Boston faced, though it's nice to see their two fans may have grown some bolts...temporarily. Let's see how the series goes when both teams have all the healthy players available.

Now don't quit again if you lose BOYZ!

Cheers,

Merlot

Hello BOYZ!

Bruins 5 Leafs 2.

I was watching the game when the Leafs scored their first goal and right away the camera cut to the huge crowd outside exploding in cheers. Well, they sure love the Leafs there, but the outburst did seem a little like desperation. The Leafs got murdered in their own city tonight, their only goals being on power plays. Not one goal on even terms like Boston's first four. Where was Carlyle's "brilliance" for adjustment tonight??? As I said, it was quite a different story with Ference back and the Bruins playing sharper. Straight up on even terms and on focus, Boston is better.

This game was critical for the Leafs to prove to themselves they could take on Boston straight up. If the Bruins keep their efforts sharp and avoid suspensions the Leafs (Carlyle) had better try some new...brilliant... strategy.

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl...153140330.html

It also shows Bruins fans taking care of the helpless victim of an absolutely disgraceful act.

Cheers Leafers, :D

Huge domination tbh... Nevertheless we know Bruins' real level, we just have to look at what they have done against Pitt and Montreal...

Leafs struggle tonight.. Not like talented Canadiens who fall into provocation strategy and resign yesterday...

Leafs will likely win one more this round, but even if not, this is great and i mean GREAT experience for the youngest team in the NHL Playoffs and will help for years to come.

If you knew hockey you would understand, thus i understand why you do not. Actually not only is this a Great Experience but more so, a Invaluable one for the Leafs and the other young teams and young players in the playoffs.

Well, let me explain my point. I wont argue by saying you dont know anything about hockey, too easy...

For this 1st serie, there was 3 possible scenarii for the Leafs : a/ They lose in 4 or 5 ; b/ They lose in 6 or 7 ; c/ They win

1/ Experience come with the number of games played in playoffs, so the more game they will play the more experience they will take. So the first scenario (lose in 4 or 5) is the worst to take experience.

2/ Moreover, to take experience, you have to understand why you sometimes lose in playoffs and why you sometimes win. If you lose almost all your games, you can't understand why you sometimes win so you lose 50% of the experience you can take

3/ My last point : Confidence is everything for a young player. For the young Leafs players, knowing they are able to win some playoffs game is essential, if they take a 4-1, it would be hard and they would probably lose a part of their confidence...

You're right, I need a lot of season to understand why it is better to be crushed 4-1 in playoffs... :thumb:

Loser spirit + loser team = loser strategy : let's lose in 5 in round 1 ! I cant imagine the huge celebration in Toronto if you managed to lose in 4 ! Lol :cheer2:

Ty for understanding, although your logic is a bit twisted, there is hope one day you will "get it", one day, not today nor tomorrow, but one day ;)

So what does your hockey expertise think of the habs/Sens game tonight? Will the habs be motivated by Macleans 17 second mark t/o in game 3 or lay an egg? Personally i do not see how it could be possible for the habs to play a worse game than sundays debacle.

Sens 3-1
