A text app cannot be traced so it does not leave you open for blackmail or threatening phone calls which do happen even when you don’t actually go see the lady.and you only made an inquiry for information.
There are many people who have been threatened who have contacted scammers on Leo List for instance.
That is why it is Important to do your research and stick to well established and reviewed Indies and agencies,
Same thing goes for a burner phone you can use the name of Mickey Mouse if you like.
My understanding is that as an ordinary citizen, whether it be just as much from a well established cellular provider, as from some random app from the app store, you cannot get personnal details about the owner of that number (name, address, etc).
I believe only law enforcement, especially with a court order, can get number ownership from cellular provider, and LE can also get info from app companies (in certain cases) about IP adresses. And from IP adresses they can get real names and real adresses. Even burner phones, somebody somewhere has to put a credit card number down to activate it...its always traceable for LE.
I beleive a phone number with a 'regular' area code (montreal, QC, neighboring states and provinces) is more a reassuance than an actual safety measure. It just looks more legit and like the person has nothing to hide. Whereas 'weird' phone numbers just dont set the stage for trust.
There could be the context where a client does not want SP phone numbers to appear in his cellphone bill (like a married man lol) and so phone apps are a way to conceal inappropriate marrital behaviour.
But please, correct me if I'm wrong
