I've tried SD sites and the offers I got were really not good. It felt like the guys on this website wanted escort services but for cheaper. I may want a SB arrangement, as long as I get along with the person really well, and I am well treated and compensated.

I think it really depends. I think you need more context here.

What are X and Y even if they are different by mistake and how big of an amount for the deposit are you talking about? 50 dollar deposit for transportation or 20 percent of a 3000 dollar overnight?

If a SP requests a gift card X for a deposit and then cancels I mostly want my cash back in my bank account not a gift card that commits me to using a service or buying something. I guess if Giftcard Y is something I use a lot like Amazon then fine but, you don't necessarily want your hand to be forced into a purchase you don't want to make at the moment and say the client doesn't have much money, rarely hobbies and had to save carefully for this appointment? Maybe the SP could have sent the amount back in PayPal where you can pay in almost any currency even for a cross border transaction if it isn't in same country.

I will feel ripped off though if gift card Y is for Agent Provocateur, because how am I going to explain that to anyone??

That wouldn't bother me at all. I use Amazon enough. In fact I would prefer it to getting an Uber gift card back because I have my own car and rarely use Uber when traveling or if car is in the shop and I have no other way to get around. Now I do know some people who hate Amazon/Bezos and refuse to buy off that platform and prefer Shopify based business. Life happens whatever the reason the SP had to cancel for, 50 dollars is not worth fretting about for me. Hell if I live in same city as SP, I would probably just tell them to hold onto the deposit and reschedule the appointment.

It wouldn’t be very smart for me because in my experience, there aren’t many clients that see both indies and agencies.

Then what’s the plan? I always have to go back and work for the agency whenever I go there? Not ideal.

Why would it be different in another city than a new girl in Montreal? If anything being new to a city usually brings MORE business not less

If does not want to repeat on his own then it’s better I don’t see him again. Having to tell a client I would like for him to come back just isn’t something I would do.
