Gentlemen,

Go Hawks Go !!!

Are you enjoying the hockey, or is this all about hating Chara. Sad.

I won't say the Blackhawks were lucky to win, but even the scorer put it plain: "“Luck,” Shaw said when describing the winning goal." The Bruins got sloppy at the back end of regulation, especially when the usually excellent Torey Krug messed up huge leading directly to a Chicago goal. Then at the start of overtime the Bruins had good chances to take the game. Both goalies played far too well and the teams battled far too long and hard to call this a lucky win. It was a great game. But Boston let this one get away, combined with a freaky bounce opportunity that ended it.

We'll see what happens in the next game. Just remember that against Vancouver the Bruins went 0-2 before winning it all.

The NHL continued handing out year-end hardware on Saturday, with the Florida Panthers' Jonathan Huberdeau taking home the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year.

Huberdeau, the third overall pick in 2011, had 14 goals and 31 points in 48 games with the Panthers.

Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher and Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad were also up for the award.

Paul MacLean wins Jack Adams Trophy

CHICAGO -- Paul MacLean didn't want to take too much credit when accepting the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's coach of the year. He called himself a "representative" of a lot of other peoples' hard work around the Ottawa Senators.

But amid injuries to Norris Trophy-winning defenceman Erik Karlsson, centre Jason Spezza and goaltender Craig Anderson, it was MacLean who held it all together as the Senators managed to make the playoffs.

Ray Shero of the Pittsburgh Penguins was named general manager of the year, and Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding, who battled back after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the off-season, got the Bill Masterton Memorial trophy for perseverance.

P.K. Subban wins the Norris Trophy

P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens has won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's top defenceman. This couldn't have come at a better time for Mr. Subban, who will no doubt use this prestigious award as leverage in his next contract talks a year from now. Expect Mr. Subban to ask upwards of $8 million a year on a multi-year contract. That amount is likely to hit $9 million or more in order to have him agree to remain in Montreal.

Congratulations P.K.!!!! :thumb:

In other news, Sydney Crosby won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy awarded to the league's best player according to his peers.

Boston made a huge Game 1, their best game of the year IMO, even if they lost.

Let see if they can do it again tonight..

Btw, Do they need to always show us a soldier during the National Anthem ? ;)

No Doc. The Richard Trophy is for most goals and Ovi won it, to go with his Hart.

Crosby won the Ted Lindsay Trophy, named for the former Red Wing star.

God Bless Rask.

Hello Gentlemen,

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...aniel-paille-blackhawks-game-2_n_3448501.html

CHICAGO — These Boston Bruins are one resilient bunch.

Daniel Paille scored at 13:48 in overtime and the Bruins beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 on Saturday night to even the Stanley Cup finals at a game apiece.

Three days after a three-overtime thriller in the series opener, Boston and Chicago once again were tied after regulation. The Bruins then stepped up the pressure and finally cashed in after goaltender Corey Crawford singlehandedly kept the Blackhawks in the game.

Brandon Bollig had a turnover in the Chicago end and Paille sent a shot under Crawford's glove and off the right post for his third goal of the playoffs, sending the Bruins back to Boston with the momentum ahead of Game 3 on Monday night.

Patrick Sharp scored for Chicago, which looked more and more gassed as the night wore on. Crawford made 26 saves in another terrific performance.

Paille also had an assist on Chris Kelly's tying goal in the second, and Tuukka Rask had 18 of his 33 stops in the first period.

Two damn tough nail-biting games. The Bruins squeaked out game 2, but should have had game 1 also. Still, a split against the best regular season team in the NHL at their home is a significant achievement. These teams seem every evenly matched on every level, but Boston can thank TUUKKA mostly of all for facing down the Blackhawks rush successfully.

Bravo,

Merlot

Another Bruins miracle tonight, Chicago should have had a 3 goals lead after an incredibly dominating 1st period. Nothing wrong can happen to the bruins in 2013, Hockey's gods keep an eye on them.

Hawks played more games in playoffs and it showed, they went downhill physically after 30mn. And when the level, the quality and the speed of the game decrease, then the Bruins become the best..

Even if the Hawks are everybody's fav, I wouldn't be surprise to see the Bruins win in 6. Hawks seemed too quickly lifelessly tonight, they lost a lot of energy in game 1 and there will be 2 games in the next 4days. They won the endless game 1, but IMO it will paradoxically make them lost the Stanley Cup...

Chara punched Crosby in the jaw

Game 1 of the NHL Eastern Conference final featured Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby jawing with Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

Now we may know why.

During a scrum in the dying seconds of the second period, Chara apparently delivered a blow square to Crosby’s injured jaw while the Penguins star was being held by Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron.

The Penguins provided TSN with footage of Chara punching Crosby, claiming it to be from Game 1.

Asked about the punch and shown the footage by TSN, Chara denied the incident, emphasizing he wasn’t penalized on the play.

The clip wasn’t played during TV broadcasts of the game, but Crosby and the Penguins were clearly irate after the scrum. Once the horn sounded, Crosby had words with Chara and Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, while teammate Evgeni Malkin fought Bergeron.

Crosby missed the last 12 games of the lockout-shortened season and Pittsburgh’s first playoff game with a broken jaw after taking a puck to the face March 30 against the New York Islanders. He wore a protective shield around his jaw for the majority of the playoffs before removing it for the East final.

Not surprising... Chara is not a good person. Except if you have zero morality, you can't admire such a coward player...

All we can wish is that it wasn't planned by the coach, but in my opinion it was a part of Bruin's strategy...

I believe Chara is nothing but a big POS who takes away all by himself the class from Bruins which they should deserve as a top team in all aspect of the game.

The day this baboon will be removed from the team, it will be a huge plus in the history of the Bruins simply because winning a couple Stanley cups by using such stupid retards isn't gonna do sh!t to their already extremely good record since the beginning.

People who thinks that Boston needs such a stupid player are simply bandwagon fans who aren't really proud of Boston tradition as one of the best hockey team and town.

This guy will never come close to Bourque's reputation anyway !

Chara is a player who uses his monstrous size to bully and intimidate, but if he didn't, everyone would be calling him a big fucking pussy. Generally the bigger players in the NHL are expected to use their size or get the fuck out of the league. There have been players like Georges Laraque who were useless except for their goon play. Laraque even gave an interview in which he said he had zero chance to stay in the NHL unless he used the goon skills. Chara has more talent than Laraque, but there are the same expectations that he use his size in an effective manner.

OMG!

That view is so full of crap and jealousy it's ridiculous.

Being classless is being so one-sidedly hateful...BUD!!!

Merlot

Hummm who has a one-side view, Merlot ?

What he did against Pacioretty (could have killed him) and against the most talented NHL player (voluntarily hit him on his injured jaw OUchh) show this guy has zero morality.

Being big and rude is ok, seriously who cares. Do you really think we hate every big guys ? Cmonn... The real and only problem is the total immorality of his gestures...

Do you really need to defend all the player of your team ? This guy is an immoral person, you're a human being before being a fan... So you can't defend what is indefensible..

Interesting to see what ticked off Sid the Kid so much. Chara will never be considered a classy player on the ice, and his modus operandi is a take no prisoners type of play and it works for him and he is a hall of famer as soon as his first chance comes up. Saying that, i am a huge fan of Crosby's and i can see why he was pissed, but thats also hockey boys and girls. It happens all the time and never gets called and jabs here and there happen every game and the refs cant see everything nor call it all the time.

As far as taking a shot at Crosby's jaw that was broken this season, well if he was cleared to play w/o the protective part of the helmet he had to wear at first, then that means he is 100% healed so he is fair game for parts of the game like we saw in the video. Was it classless on Chara's part? yea i would say maybe somewhat but then again this is not the ballet boys, this is Hockey and as much as some of you in here want it to be the ballet with all your crying about big, tough, hard hitting, and the little things like this that do not get called everytime (thankfully) it never will be. Hockey should be a combo of skill and toughness and the sport in general is graceful and violent at the same time...to sum it up best, Hockey is Beautiful.....
