Look behind you.
I saw your weirdly formatted random list with no link earlier. Can you give a better link to this "list of doomsdays" you think is so damning?

Do you mean post #117?

Don't despair, there must exist a field that you might have a better grasp of. Keep looking and perhaps you will get rewarded, who knows.

Bred dont' be a Sob ;) I am laughing at your comment because if you only knew who you are talking to haha

STN who fucking cares if they cannot predict 30 years away. We know enough now to know we are fucked. It's time to do something. The american gouvernment is already planning sea wall that will cost Trillions. Trump will be happy as it will help keeps bandits away ;)

True Sharkman us Quebeccer are no better then any other province or industrialized country. We have no lesson to give. We as others should listen, learn and change (we do produce less gaz emission per capita because we produce our electricity with non fossil fuel, that is the only reason).

Cheers,

They can not get the weather right two weeks away, how can they predict 30 years away properly?

That comment is as dumb as the american politician who brought a snowball into congress and said, 'Where's the global warming??"

I hope you weren't actually serious.

Look behind you.
Bit of sarcasm there, but you do realize all the false doomsday predictions..

Why do scientists believe in global warming??

It's a combination of factors, but here is the proof:

Antarctica ice core samples contain air bubbles and their age depends on the depth at which they were taken. The further down you drill the older are the core samples.
The air bubbles accurately reflect the gasses in the atmosphere at the time they were trapped. The gas that shows the highest volatility is CO2.
The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere can be plotted with time and it usually within that last million years, varies little in time. However large CO2 variations occurred mainly with major volcanic activity. In the last 100 years the concentrations of CO2 have been steadily rising and in the last 40 years the amount of CO2 has increased exponentially.

There is a marine mollusk whose calcium-carbonate shell grows at a rate which is dependent on water temperature. It’s shell growth has been accurately measured and the mollusk usually locates itself at more of less a constant depth. This animal has had no significant evolutionary change for several million years.

The data collected up to now clearly shows a definite correlation between the mollusk shell growth and atmospheric CO2 concentrations and that over a period of the last 800000 years.
So global atmospheric temperatures are directly correlated with the atmospheric CO2 concentration.

This data has been reviewed by many teams over the last fifty years and always shows the same results.

How many times will we have to repeat.... Yes the climate is changing. Not for the better. And yes by itself not only because of human.

Yes human activity does have an impact on the effect of the changes. We human can do hard core actions to limit it's effect in order for our future generation to survive a bit longer.

I am probably very stupid because that is such a simple thing to understand...

Look behind you.
^^^^^^ Some do not get it. Yes climate is changing. No, a tax will not fix it. There are the doomsday people like Gore, Suzuki, Bill Ney the science idiot, basically people who are making a fortune from promoting ( setting fear ) it. The gullible are in a panic like it will destroy the earth in 30 years... no it will not. We are getting a grip on it, something like this takes time, it will not happen overnight.
When you have people listening to Greta ( 16 yr old ), Trudeau ( drama teacher ) & AOC ( bartender ) you kind of wonder why are they allowed to even vote.
If you really want to make your voice heard go to China and India with your chants and protest signs, hold a rally there. Pardon! Too scared to do something like that, easier to rant in Canada which is not the fucking problem.....

I don't rely on these people for my acceptance of man made climate change. I rely on the 200+ scientific organizations and the overwhelming consensus of climate scientists, and these folks are not getting rich by sounding the alarms. They are trying to find the truth and convince people to save our planet, pretty please.

I am just curious, why are they still trying to find the truth given the universally recognized "overwhelming consensus"? Are they not aware of of that consensus? They should consult merb at the very least.

P.S. I hate quoting the entire post, but due to your propensity to (retroactively) replace your illuminating pronouncements with even more interesting ones, I have no choice.

Count me in the ranks of the skeptics. Yes, the climate is changing. It always has and it always will. What I object to is adopting feel-good legislation that will do nothing but soak my bank account and make no real difference. I'm not willing to give up steak and air travel to coddle the stupid on the left. When they say the science is settled they mean the politics is settled.

No matter what you say Hungry we will reach a point where changes are inevitable. Hope you will be dead by then.

The left is not more or less stupid then the right. We are human being all quite stupid, to say the least.

We have a great planet but we are all too stupid to either realize it or too stupid to be able to convince others they should realize it.

Even if we can convince the naysayers that the planet is dying by our collective hand, the really difficult part will be to unite the nations of the world to force their populations to make the painful sacrifices to save our future generations. But the world looks to the US for leadership in these situations, for many reasons, and the Republicans are thwarting any progress here. (not to belittle Canada's role, because every nation must help)
Actually, I'm very pessimistic that a catastrophic world can be avoided. We are like frogs sitting in a pot of water on a stove as the temperature gradually rises until we are boiled alive without any insight about our demise...

Totally true. The shit will really hit the fan when billions of people will have to move to remaining space above sea water. Not all nations have the trillions necessary to build sea wall like they are planning along the coast of America. Dont get me wrong no matter what we do I do not think we can stop that. What human remains to fight for in the next century is more towards having enough breathable air....

Cheers,

Jaliman - Let's attack this problem in a manner that is suitable or typical of the left. Lets's all wear a polar bear pin and a color to remind us of climate change...how about blue? Why not have a blue out the park night at sporting events? The elite Hollywood "in crowd" can fly in on their private jets to tell the masses how to live. They will give benefit concerts in the park and leave and the park will have to shut down after for the next 4-6 weeks while the park administration has to undertake a massive clean-up operation in the concerts aftermath to clean up the mess of human waste and garbage and needles etc. regulators will go on to eliminate propellant from mosquito repellent and maybe mandate the increase in efficiency of chainsaws and yard equipment (elites don't have to use these) but they won't do a thing about the yachts, limos, and private jets for the elite. Oh and the United States will shut down all further manufacturing and China and India will be free to pollute as much as they want. Oh and the children. We need to terrify the little children that they are all going to wake up one day and have to make way for higher ground or we will all drown and teach them that the storms have nothing to do with the fascination of building on the ocean front the last 40 years or so instead of prudently living further inland as our grandparents did.

The only doable and reason policy that will work, albeit it will take time, is voluntary 1 child per female.
Not extra taxes, not coercion, etc...

education education education we need less people on the planet, because we are not going anywhere else.

Hungry hungry!

Sorry but the climate is not left or right. And I for sure not a leftist. Why are american dividing every argument into a left and right thing? This is for me as much of a mystery as women ;)

Why does Hollywood bothers you? I do not give a shit who warns us about problems like this one. Reducing worldwide gaz emission is absolutely vital for our survival. History tells us the ones who tell us the truth are the ones who have nothing else to lose (ya ya like Janis used to sing ;) ). Like the kids, the poor or the ultra-rich (as they have it all already...). The worst are the majority middle class who prefer to make sure their front lawn grass is spark green...

While America is reopening coal and iron mine (even tho they make not money...) China and India are working much harder to eliminate theirs. Why? Because in some big city down there they already can barely breathe. So do not worry America will not have to close down all it's manufacturing. But may, like Germany already announced, have to move to all electric car... Little things like you know ;)

Cheers,
