BOYZ!
When Phil "The Thrill" scored this amazing goal, i jumped out of my lazyboy and shouted out "Thank you, Boston!!!!"
What a goal, what a player!!!!!!! :thumb:
No goals and no assists for Kessel tonight. So where was "The Thrill" tonight Doc? The thrill was with the Bruins who once again kicked Maple Leaf ass. Why is it when the Bruins play the Leafs the great Kessel typically seems to disappear from the limelight. When I see how invisible Kessel becomes during these games I jump out of my Lazyboy and shout...THANK YOU TORONTO!!! :thumb:
BTW: one can always tell how the Leafs did when Iggy hides out in the free-for-all to attack other teams after the game.
Now if you want to talk about a bonafide star talk about Patrice Bergeron. Our Leafs fans, including Reverdy, will remember him as the guy who put the final nail in the Leafs coffin last year in the playoffs during the Greatest one-game comeback/collapse EVAH!. Ahhhhhhhhh memories...together with a little deja vu tonight.
BOSTON - The last time the Toronto Maple Leafs played at TD Garden was when
three unanswered goals were scored against them in the third period of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Then Patrice Bergeron made the foundation shake with the winner in overtime to send the Leafs packing and the Bruins onto the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
This time around wasn't as epic, but Bergeron did it again.
Bergeron and Zdeno Chara scored power play goals and the Bruins penalty-kill unit went a perfect 3 for 3 to help the Bruins to a 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs before 17,565 Saturday night at TD Garden.
Bergeron potted an empty-netter with 21.7 seconds left to seal it.
It was an extra gutsy effort as the Bruins lost defenseman Adam McQuaid early in the first period with a lower-body injury.
...the Bruins characteristically took advantage of their power play.
"Characteristically". It's not long into this year to say the Bruins power play has been good to use a word like characteristically. Until this year their power play production has been woeful to say the least. For the past few years it's been so bad Bruins fans just dismiss it as any kind of positive factor.
Don't forget Leafs fans, this isn't a strike-shortened half year, where the Leafs can avoid their usual second half season collapse because, well, this time they can't avoid playing the second half.
Cheers,
Merlot
